Local fire official report little weekend storm damage; regular fire and crash responses

WALTON COUNTY, GA (Oct. 11, 2026) – Georgia was put under an Emergency Response executive or for the weekend with potential problems from the after effect of Hurricane Isaias coming ashore Friday night in the Gulf Coast but official report that outside of a few reports of trees down and power outages, the area did not appear to be impacted much from the storm

However, Saturday did keep first responders busy, first with an early morning two-vehicle crash at MLK Blvd and Spring Street between a vehicle and an electric bike that seriously injured a 43-year-old Monroe Man. Crews also responded to two fires Saturday, according to Walton County Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Craig League.

League said Social Circle Fire Department and WCFR responded to a working house fire- Carnation Drive in the City of Social Circle. There also was a report of a smell of smoke in a residence on Shoal Creek Road in the Campton community that WCFR and Monroe Fire Department responded to. Neither, however reported too much damage

“The fire on Carnation Drive was confined to the garage area. There was minimal damage to the structure beyond the garage, Social Circle Fire Chief Ken Zaydel said. “The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Cause is under investigation by the Social Circle Fire Marshall with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.”

“The Shoal Creek fire was found to be a shorted electrical outlet. No fire damage,” League said.
