Loganville Legacy Lions give $3,000 to local charities

Last year, the Loganville Legacy Lions Club raised $13,000 in a $10,000 raffle and decided to donate the $3,000 proceeds to local charity efforts in the area. Before kicking off the 2017 version of its “Give Back” raffle, the group had a reception to donate the proceed to the charities and organizations it had decided to make the benefactors of the 2016 effort. This was done Tuesday at the American Legion Post 233 in Loganville. Checks for $500 each were awarded to the Boy Scouts of American Troop 535, based out of American Legion Post 233, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 536, based out of Loganville Methodist Church and checks for $1,000 each were presented to both the Walton County Special Olympics and Shepherd’s Staff Ministries, a Loganville-based food bank.

This year’s Give Back Campaign will have tickets of $50 and there will be a $5,000 raffle, either to one person or  five winners of $1,000 each. As was the case last year, the winner or winners, as the case may be, will be announced at the 2017 Loganville AutumnFest on Oct. 21.
