Loganville to set Tap fees for first reuse water project

Last month, the Loganville City Council voted to implement the first reuse water project. This will allow residents to reuse water that has been used for such things as bathing or laundry for irrigation purposes, at a reduced rate. Officials confirm that there is no human waste included in this water. The first trial will be established at the Stone Creek subdivision currently under construction as it is in close enough proximity to the city’s waste water treatment plant. It is a costly project, likely more than $1 million, which will be paid from the enterprise fund. Officials expect to recoup the money in 5 to 10 years. The benefits to the city include the fact that it will enable it to purchase less water at the regular rate. However, it will only be cost effective at this time to implement the reuse water system in new construction. Loganville City Council members will discuss the tap rates at Monday’s City Council work session on Monday and are expected to vote on the rates at the November City Council meeting on Thursday.

The November work session of the Loganville City Council will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 in City Hall Council Chamber, 4303 Lawrenceville Road. The full work session agenda follows. The public is invited to attend.
