The Loganville Police Department’s annual Donut Dash 5K returns Saturday, Sept. 19, with proceeds once again supporting the Walton County Special Olympics.
The race will be held at Loganville High School, 100 Trident Trail, with packet pickup and race-day registration beginning at 8 a.m. and the 5K starting at 9 a.m.
Registration is $25 through Sept. 18 and $30 on race day. Participants who register in advance are guaranteed an event T-shirt, while supplies last.
The Donut Dash has become one of the community’s signature fundraising events for the Walton County Special Olympics. Originally created by the LPD to support longtime Special Olympics advocate the late Janice Tribble, the race has raised thousands of dollars each year to help cover the costs of the annual games.
The 2024 event was held in memory of Tribble, who passed away just weeks before the race after dedicating decades to ensuring local Special Olympics athletes had an unforgettable experience. In 2024, Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry credited Tribble as the inspiration behind the event, saying, “We started this Donut Dash because of Janice Tribble. She was the fire that made Special Olympics happen.”
The race has consistently generated significant support, with recent events raising more than $20,000 each year for the program.
Those who can’t participate in the race can still support the cause by registering as a Phantom Runner or making a donation. All proceeds benefit the Walton County Special Olympics.
