Monroe, GA (July 20, 2026) — Piedmont Walton Hospital and Piedmont Physicians of Monroe announce that Shannon Christian, M.D., has joined the practice and is now accepting new patients. Dr. Christian is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages.
She also is a native daughter who is choosing to bring her talents to her hometown of Monroe.

According to a press release from Piedmont Walton, “Dr. Christian grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe Area High School in 2015. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia before receiving her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. She then completed her residency training through the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program in Atlanta.”
“I’m excited to move back home, join Piedmont Physicians of Monroe, and care for patients and families in Walton County,” Dr. Christian said in a press release. “I believe strong relationships and open communication are necessary to provide excellent health care, and I look forward to partnering with my patients to help them live healthier lives.”
Dr. Christian is reportedly passionate about women’s health, preventive medicine and patient-centered care. Her clinical interests also include adolescent health and helping patients improve their long-term health through preventive services and personalized treatment plans.
