Monroe PD Reports: Slew of entering autos, juvenile riot at Ridgeview

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between July 14 – 20, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the final part. Please note, an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Harassment, North Broad St., complainant reports a named subject said “I could have shot you” to him while walking down Oak St.
  • Agency assist, Union St. DFACS needed to speak with parent and child and no one was coming to the door. Contact made, all ok.
  • Welfare check, Creekview Dr. Ridgeview requested contact with female subject. Contact made with subject who advised she would contact the hospital and her doctor, all ok.
  • Theft report, North Madison Ave., The Market, owner said he had 2 employees that he’s recently let go for stealing lottery tickets, This has been going on since Jan 2017. One employee took approximately $9,245.50 and other employee took approximately $3,700.50. Owner said he has new camera system that only stores video for 30 days however may have video of employee from July 3-4. Owner to save video for CID, CID notified.
  • Dispute, East Spring St., Dollar General. Dispute over a rug doctor between customers, advised of remedies.
  • Entering auto, Walton St., mother reports her son left the keys in the ignition overnight and someone took the keys and put them in the seat and took $50.00 out of his wallet.
  • Harassment, South Broad St., Southside MHP, married couple said their neighbor is harassing them and staring at them. Advised of the Temporary Protection Order. Report done by request
  • Agency assist (DFACS) in regards to caseworker taking juvenile into DFACS custody. All ok.
  • Traffic stop on W. Spring St. at W. Highland Ave. Vehicle had no insurance and driver had no license. Driver cited for both and vehicle towed by towing company.
  • Dispute, W. Spring St. (Sim’s Gas) in regards to two Hispanic males verbally disputing in front of store. Clerk advised the males were arguing over a digital scale they purchased and then one left in vehicle and other on foot. Both were gone prior to arrival, all was ok.
  • Animal injured, Morrow St. in regards to dog struck by vehicle and vehicle then gone. Owner stated truck was traveling on N. Midland Ave. and his dog went into the roadway and was struck by truck. Dog sustained minor injuries, report taken
  • Harassing phone calls, Baker St., complainant stated she has received two phone calls from the IRS stating she has a warrant. Advised this is a phone scam. Report taken
  • Assault, N. Broad St. (Church’s Chicken) complainant stated a B/M came into the restaurant and struck him because he was talking to a female named. Report taken but no signs of assault at this time. Video will be reviewed later once it is available.
  • Dispute, N. Broad St. (Deer Acres Inn) in regards to staff advising a customer is refusing to leave. Female has history of mental issues and served w/ Criminal Trespass Notice. All ok.
  • Suspicious vehicles, Hwy 78 WB from Athens in regards to green Jeep and black Ford Focus w/ kids hanging out windows trying to fight. Walton County Sheriff’s Office had contact on 78 WB before Unisia Dr. All was ok.
  • Dispute, McDonald’s in regards to customer stating she gave clerk $20.00 to pay for food and did not receive correct change back and disputed w/ staff. A money count was done on register and it was actually short $6.00 and all sales added up. Customer was advised she could speak w/ manager tomorrow to resolve issue and customer turned the issue into a “race” issue stating it would not be worth it if manager was white. Customer advised again of remedies.
  • Threats, Wellington Dr., complainant stated female subject messaged him on Facebook about abandoned property that was left on location at neighbor’s house and now female subject wants the property back. No physical threats made but complainant requested report.
  • Riot, Ridgeview in regards to group of patients throwing chairs, damaging property, and making threats towards staff. Arrived on scene, staff was safe. Reuben King, Amore Valentine, and two juveniles arrested. Two will have a juvenile complaint filed and be released to family. King and Valentine fingerprinted at MPD and taken to Walton County Jail. Charges are Inciting a Riot, Damage to Property, and Simple Assault.
  • Theft, Sourwood Ct., complainant stated his gun was stolen from his vehicle but believes the theft occurred in Lithonia and advised he will contact the police at that location. Report declined
  • Burglary, Lake View Dr. All was ok, male subject on location and currently resides there. No burglary took place and all parties advised of remedies.
  • 911 hang-up, Ridge Rd. Contact made w/complainant who advised he was disputing w/ friend named, the named friend was GOA, all was ok.
  • Entering auto, Red Oak Crt. Anonymous caller advised he witnessed juveniles in the area going around checking to see if cars were unlocked. Requested area check. Officer had visual of two juveniles on bicycles coming from area and attempted to make contact and subjects fled through woods on Walker Dr. After checking area, traced bicycle tracks to Bridgeport Pl. One of the bicycles the juvenile had was found behind residence and taken for processing due to prints on bicycle. Knocked on door of residence but nobody would come to the door.
  • Area check, White Oak Dr. and found vehicle w/ slightly opened driver door. Contact made w/ owner and was advised all appeared ok and nothing was missing. Report declined
  • Area check, White Oak Dr. and found foot tracks through wet grass. Contact made w/ homeowner and advised all was ok. . Son went to vehicle to get belongings and no sign of vehicle entry made.
  • Unknown, Wayne St. on back side of Butcher Block. Contact made w/complainant who advised multiple crip gang members were following him around and they had guns. Complainant advised he had been smoking weed on Felker St. w/subjects earlier. Escort given to complainant to a residence on W. Highland Ave. All ok.
  • Stopping suspicious vehicle/arrest, N. Broad St. at Oak St. Shambreka Atkinson arrested for Driving w/ Suspended License. Atkinson fingerprinted and released on copy.
  • Area check at Felker Park and B/M was seen on bicycle on back field area. B/M dropped bicycle and ran on foot towards Pine Park/Lacy St. area. Area was checked w/ negative contact.
  • Theft, W Fambrough Street, complainant reported a Razor bicycle being taken off his front porch last night.  Bicycle was found by Officer during the early morning hours in reference to an entering auto call.  Bicycle returned to complainant.
  • Entering Auto, Oakwood Ln in reference to complainant vehicle being entered and personal property being stolen.  Complainant stated her Driver’s License, Debit Card and Social Security Card were taken.  Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, E Church Street/Chestnut Ln.  In reference a burgundy Expedition failing to maintain lane.  Vehicle was GOA.
  • Person Deceased, Stewart Court, male subject was found deceased this morning laying in his bed.  Subject suffered from terminal cancer.
  • Suspicious Person, Murphy USA in reference to a white female walking around wearing a gold badge around her neck.  The female was gone.
  • Theft, East Marable Street. Complainant waved officers down and wanted to report her cell phone stolen or lost.  Report taken.
  • Fraud report taken at MPD, In reference to complainant advised an unknown person direct deposited a check for $572.82 into his bank account on 6-30-17.
  • Entering Auto, Oak Ridge, and complainant advised an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle during the evening and took personal items.
  • Dispute, W Spring Street, complainant complained about being asked to see her receipt by the door greeter prior to leaving the store.  She advised she did not have to show the receipt since she did not sign a contract and the employee called her a thief.  While attempting to obtain information, the complainant left the scene.  Employee advised she was just following protocol and asked for the receipt and did not call her a thief.
  • Suspicious Person, Deer Acres.  In reference to a white female hiding in the bushes.  White female was gone when officers arrived.
  • Entering Auto, Country Club Drive.  1996 Honda Accord entered and purse taken.  2006 Hummer H3 entered, Smith & Wesson 32 taken.  1996 Chevrolet S10 entered, Glock 19 taken and one magazine.  All vehicles left unlocked.
  • Damage to Property, South Madison Ave., and owner reported damage to a window on the side of the building.  Occurred between 7/5/17 and 7/18/17.
  • Drug Activity, E Highland Ave in reference to 3 white males in the area who just bought narcotics.  Responded to the scene and could not locate any suspicious persons or activity.
  • Threats, Armistead Cir., complainant inquired about how to obtain a restraining order.  All ok.
  • Fraud report taken at MPD, complainant stated that named male subject misfiled his taxes and took his tax return.  He was advised to file an official report with the IRS.  Report taken.
  • Dispute, S Broad Street in reference to female subject on property.  Owner called the on duty nurse and asked for female subject to be escorted off the property due to her past behavior.  Female subject was escorted off the premises.  All ok.
  • Dispute, S Madison Ave., complainant disputing with her roommate over roommate trying to move her brother in.  Advised to speak with the landlord to see what the lease agreement states about moving third party tenants in.
  • Threats, W Spring St., complainant reported threats that were made by a male subject approximately a week ago.  Report taken
  • Suspicious Vehicle, N Broad Street/Highland Dr. in reference to a silver SUV with open doors.  Officers observed a white female securing the doors to the SUV upon their arrival.  All ok.
  • Dispute, Mobley Cir., complainant in dispute with her neighbor due to him coming outside in his underwear.  Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, S Broad Street, patient upset about $8 missing.  Patient complained of hand pain from a seizure earlier this date and was transported to Clearview Medical.
  • Entering Auto, Alcovy Street. Complainant advised that sometime between 1900 hours on Monday July 17 and this date at 1830 Hours her vehicle was entered and her pinky SCCY 9mm handgun was taken from the center console.  Vehicle was left unlocked last night, but was locked on Monday night.  No forced entry.  Gun was placed on GCIC by Walton County Communications.
  • Suspicious Person, Ridge Road, While speaking to complainant I observed a small bag of marijuana laying on the floor.  Complainant stated that the suspicious person was a “name given” and she called the police because the named person’s ex-boyfriend was at her house. Complainant was cited for possession less than one ounce.
  • Welfare Check, Creek View Drive.   Ridgeview wanted officers to check on a female subject.  Negative contact at the residence.
  • Damage to Property, Magnolia Terrace.  Juvenile stated another named juvenile came over and knocked on his window to get his attention and broke the windows pane.Burglary, Tanglewood Drive, complainant stated that today between the hours of 7am and 8pm someone came into her house and took her sons PS3.  She stated she left the door unlocked and she did not have any serial numbers
  • Domestic, Edwards Street, two male subjects were both hit by a name female subject.  One male was hit with a metal rebar and other male was hit with a glass bottle.  Warrants to be taken on female subject for Aggravated Assault and Simple Battery.
  • Entering Auto, Hill Street, and complainant stated someone took some money and a black taros 9mm out of her car on the 16th of July.
  • Suspicious Person, East Spring Street, two juveniles were caught behind the building.  One juvenile charged with out past curfew and Loitering.  Other juvenile charged with out past curfew, loitering, and less than an ounce of weed.
  • Dispute, East Fambrough Street, complainant advised female subject was yelling at him.  He did not want things to escalate so he called the police. Female subject was gone on arrival.
  • Suspicious Person, complainant called because someone was on her porch when she turned the light on.  It was friends of hers everything ok.
  • Suspicious Person, South Madison Ave., male subject on location dropping off paperwork from out of town trip.
  • Dispute, complainant stated that a “nick-name given” subject pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him.  No one on location would cooperate and all stated they did not know subject’s real name.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Church St., complainant advised sometime during the night someone stole his white 2012 Acura TSX from his porch area.  Vehicle was recovered in the parking lot of the Harris Street Legion.  Report taken.
  • Theft, Magnolia St., reported his black/white pit bull dog missing. Prior to leaving, the dog walked up to the house from the wood line.  All ok.
  • Runaway, Hubbard St., father reported his 16 yr old son left the residence last night without permission.  Father stated he did not mind if his son stayed at a friend’s house but wanted him to ask.  Made contact with the son via telephone and advised him to call his father.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Nowell St., daughter and her mother disputing over rules of the house and the daughter’s  ability to take care of her child.  Situation mediated.  Report taken.
  • Found Property, E Spring St., complainant advised he suspected a juvenile taking parts of a bicycle he put besides the dumpster.  Complainant is unaware if the bicycle was stolen or not.  Request extra patrol for the business in reference to identity of the male subject.
  • Suspicious Person, S. Broad St.  Elderly female walking northbound on Hwy 11 partially in the roadway.  Area checked, female was GOA.
  • Dispute, E Washington St.  Bank manager reported male subject upset about not being able to cash a $4,000 check.  His mother was outside in the car and employees were concerned about her welfare.  Vehicle was GOA driving a white passenger car with blue/white drive out tag.  Attempted to make contact with the mother at her residence on Maple Street, negative contact.
  • Dispute, Magnolia Terrace, Spoke to a 13 year old juvenile who advised all was ok and unfamiliar with any dispute.  All ok.
  • Fraud report taken at MPD, complainant advised an unknown person stole a blank check and cashed it in the amount of $715.00 on 6-5-17.
  • Wanted Person Located, Alcovy Street.  Jacob Morris arrested for probation violation.  Report taken.
  • Medical Assist, Knight St., complainant notified police due to her wife having some type of medical issues, possibly a bad reaction to medication that was prescribed to her.  Wife was transported to Clearview Medical Center.
  • Damage to Property, E Tall Oaks, and complainant advised someone busted her porch light this morning at 0235 hours.  Complainant suspects black male juveniles in the area may be responsible.  Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Walker Dr., complainant wanted to remove a vehicle that was parked on his property.  Advised complainant of the towing process for private property.  Advised he will give the owner a few more days to get the vehicle moved. Suspicious Person, S Broad Street in reference to an elderly female walking on Hwy 11.  Female walking home from Hardees.  Officers advised her to walk on the side of the road for her safety.
  • Fight, West Spring St., Clearview in reference to earlier call about wife to have a medical testing papers signed and wife was not liking what the hospital was doing.  Situation mediated.
  • Fight, East Vine Street near South Broad Street.  In reference to two males fighting upon arrival no one found in the area fighting and people in the area stated they have not seen a fight.
  • Dispute, Belle Meade Road, resident on location disputing with male subject over the number of bale of pine straw put out in his yard.  They settled on the payment of $400.
  • Welfare Check, Belle Meade Road – In reference to a caller from Washington State calling about a male subject due to him making a claim about taking pills to commit suicide.   After locating a possible address on Belle Meade Road.  Officers made contact with resident and was able to confirm that male subject lived at the address and was ok.  Made resident aware of the situation and they would take care of male subjects welfare.
  • Officer to meet with caller on Green Street/GW Carver.  Complainant on location wanting to let police know about a man trying to make his Chihuahua chase kids, they did not know who the man was.
  • Domestic, Tanglewood, resident on location advised everything was ok at the house and the house was checked for the welfare of everyone inside.
  • Dispute, West Fambrough Street. Couple was arguing.  Wife wanted to leave the residence and husband did not want her to leave.  While wife was attempting to leave the husband got stuck between the passenger side mirror and a metal pole to the car port.  No injuries.  Incident was an accident.
  • Dispute, Irving Street – Made contact with male subject who had a cut on his lip and stated that a named male subject came in his house and attacked him.  Warrants to be taken.
  • Disturbing the Peace, Cook Place.  Large group of people outside that were leaving the area.  Left the area with no problems
  • Escort, West Spring St., Clearview, male subject was provided a lift to his address at East Marable Street.
  • Suspicious Person, East Church St., complainant stated he observed three black males around 20 years of age loitering near his neighbor’s residence.  Subjects fled when he turned on his lights towards South Hammond Drive.  Further investigation revealed the subjects were going through complainant’s trash bin where items possibly left from previous dates stolen vehicle incident.
