The City of Monroe is inviting the community to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a full day of patriotic festivities on Saturday, July 4, as Walton County concludes its weeklong America 250 celebration.

Presented by Synovus, the red, white, and blue celebration will begin with the Historic Hustle 5K at 8 a.m., followed by brunch and live entertainment at the Davis-Edwards House. Throughout the day, Downtown Monroe will come alive with patriotic music, family activities, historical programs, and community traditions honoring the nation’s Semiquincentennial.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the expanded Stars and Stripes Trail at the Monroe Market will feature more than 100 farmers, artists, and craft vendors, while local historian Steve Brown will lead popular Step Back in Time Historic Trolley Tours exploring Monroe’s rich history.

The celebration officially kicks off at 10 a.m. at the historic Walton County Courthouse with Madison Chambers performing the National Anthem, followed by a patriotic concert by the Yargo Community Band. Members of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution will also be on hand in period attire to commemorate the occasion.

At 11 a.m., children are invited to decorate their bicycles and tricycles for the annual Sparkles & Spokes Bike Parade on Midland Avenue. Later, aspiring bakers can showcase their culinary skills during The Great American Pie Showdown at 11:30 a.m. on the courthouse grounds.

Live entertainment continues throughout the afternoon with performances by Michael Pezent and 2nd Round Music, alongside food trucks, children’s activities, and plenty of opportunities for families to celebrate together. The Town Green Splash Pad will remain open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for those looking to cool off.

The day’s festivities culminate at 9:30 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks display near Blaine Street Station, synchronized to patriotic music broadcast by WMOQ Monroe.
