MPD Reports: Disturbing the peace, domestic disputes and facilitating safe exchange of stuffed animal

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period July 16 – 23, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Firearms – E Marable St. In reference to shots heard across the street. It was determined it was fireworks. 

Suspicious person – S Broad St. Dollar General. In reference to a female yelling and screaming that business will not let her in after closing. The female subject was gone when officers arrived. Area checked with negative contact. 

Civil – Ridge Rd In reference to items that were left at the father’s residence. Complainant requests PD to standby while property is given back. Complainant requested PD facilitate exchange of children’s stuffed animal with ex-husband. Stuffed animal secured and exchanged facilitated without incident. All ok. 

Disturbing peace – Pine Park St. In reference to 50 to 60 people outside having a party. Advised group of people partying to keep the volume to a minimum due to other residents in the area trying to sleep. 

Dispute – Lakeview Dr. In reference to complainant’s fiancé and son fighting. The son was gone when officers arrived. Report taken

Dispute – Plaza Dr. In reference to complainant’s sister beating on the door to a residence. Per both parties verbal dispute only. Parties separated and remedies advised. 

Juvenile complaint – Kendall Ct and Ash Ln. In reference to juveniles running around knocking on doors. 

Suspicious person – W Spring St. Piedmont Walton. In reference to patient in the parking lot that has been discharged from hospital. Patient advised everything is ok and stated that he was headed to his residence on Green St. Patient stated that he came to the hospital because he was having unusual thoughts. 

Suspicious vehicle – S Madison Ave. Felker Park. – Two juveniles located in a vehicle after park hours. Juveniles were turned over to their guardians. 

Dispute – Towler St. -Two parties disputing over car keys and a weed eater. Situation mediated. 

Welfare Check – Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd: In reference to white male and white female with juveniles holding signs standing out in the heat. Made contact with subjects. All Okay. 

Welfare Check – W. Spring Str. in reference to foul odor coming from donation boxes in parking lot. Trash odor, all ok. 

Welfare Check – Baker St.: In reference to the back-window screen missing. Subject was made aware that maintenance is aware of the screen missing for several months and advised she didn’t want it replaced. All Okay 

Agency Assist – S. Broad St. (John’s Supermarket) In reference to a subject just letting Monroe PD that he would be on location. All okay. 

Theft – Tanglewood Dr. in reference a theft of a cell phone that happened on 07/18/20 at the Da Grand. The cell phone ping near Tanglewood Drive on 07/19/20 2100 hours. 

Suspicious Vehicle -Walmart -Employees called in reference to a blue in color Grand Marquis with a black male driver causing a disturbance. Contact made with subject. He was driven home by individual due to his mental state. 

Entering Auto – Alcovy Street: In reference to the complainant’s vehicle being broken into and having a Smith &Wesson 380 Body Guard with laser taken. Report made. 

Custody Dispute – E. Marable St. at Hickory Drive. 

Theft – Overlook Trail in reference to theft of a cell phone. Occurred in Rockdale county in May 2020. Advised on TPO process. 

Dispute – East Spring Street (Short Stop): In reference to several subjects disputing. A subject on location was found to be hiding narcotics in the store. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Sched. 2 X2, Possession of Marijuana less than one oz, Possession of Drug related objects, Drugs not in the original container, and abandonment of dangerous drugs. 

Citizen Assist – S. Broad St. in reference to citizen not being able to exit the gate at storage facility. Responding officer was able to open the gate. 

Traffic Offense – Wendy’s. Reference to a subject stopped for a cracked windshield. The investigation led to his arrest for driving while suspended and DUI-combination. 

Disturbing the Peace – E. Marable St. – made contact with people at the resident. People stated that they will keep it down. 

Stalking – Plaza Dr. Caller had questions about getting a TPO and how to keep people from following her. 

Suspicious Person – Taylors. Subject was waiting on Greyhound and sleeping outside. He was given a room at Monroe Motor Inn by FISH. 

Dispute – Walker Dr. Complainant stated that a possible dispute was occurring at this address. Spoke with the homeowner who stated she had been choking on a piece of watermelon. All OK 

Suspicious Person – Fawnfield Dr. In reference to subject walking through the subdivision with his pants down damaging property. He was transported via EMS to Piedmont Walton for evaluation and treatment. Warrants to be taken. 

Suicide Attempt – Douglas St. – Subject took pills. Turned over to EMS.

Damage to Property – Athens Tech Fieldhouse. Found to be old damage and no entry was made. 

Fight – Piedmont Walton -In reference to a subject fighting with ER staff. Upon arrival, the subject was calm and not combative. He was arrested for his criminal trespass warrant stemming from an incident on D-Shift. 

Found Property – East Church Street (Chevron Food Mart): In reference to wallet being found at the intersection of South Hammond / Baker Street. 

Suspicious person – North Broad Street at Tanglewood Drive in reference to a subject walking close to the roadway. Negative contact.
