MPD Reports: Ongoing issues with juveniles and large crowds congregating and needing to be dispersed

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 16 – 21, 2026. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Alarm – E Spring St – The FISH – In reference to an employee on location tripping the alarm when attempting to enter the office.
• Threats – Pavilion Pkwy; Hibbett Sports – In reference to subject coming into the store and making threats to fight to an employee after quitting earlier this date. Report taken.
• Disturbing the Peace – E Marable St; Mathews Park – In reference to a large group of people on location being loud and smoking weed, subjects were advised to vacate the area.
• Civil Issue – W Fambrough St – In reference to a verbal dispute between three subjects, over a Ford Mustang purchased from ACT Auto brokers. One advised that his mother, had purchased the car under her name for him. He advised that he has made nearly all of the payments on the vehicle by giving the money to her, who then makes the payments to ACT. He was upset due to the vehicle only having approximately $800.00 left to pay off the vehicle loan, believing she was not going to sign the title over after the last payment was made. She advised that she has no intention of keeping the vehicle. Both were advised of civil remedies if further issues should arise.
• Alarm – Tate St – All doors and windows secured.
• Unsecure Premise – S Broad St; The Roe – In reference to the front doors of the business being unlocked. The business was cleared, and the key holder arrived on location and secured the business. All ok.
• Juvenile Problem – Downtown – In reference to a citizen advising several juveniles were attempting to fight. Contact was made with several juveniles, who were standing near Willfully Guided. All ok.
• Other Law – Tall Oaks Dr – Juvenile complainant stated he was being picked on. I arrived at the location and spoke with the mother who stated he was not being picked on and that he got in trouble. She stated he was not there and she contacted his probation officer due to ongoing issues.
• Suspicious Persons – Woodland Rd – Complainant stated a male in a yellow work vest came to her door. An area check was conducted and the male was located. The male was a verified employee of Kinetic internet service and finished working for the night.
• Damage to Property – King St.- In reference to complainant calling due to a juvenile running a scooter into his vehicle, report taken.
• Discharge Firearms – Tanglewood L/D – Complainant stated they heard several gunshots in the area. An area check was completed where it was discovered they were fireworks not gunshots. All ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Tall Oaks – Complainant advised three cars with young black males pulled into the neighborhood. The complainant’s grandson is the cousin of a juvenile that was arrested today for a shooting. She was worried it might be retaliation but her grandson had nothing to do with the shooting and was not there. I advised I could complete area check throughout the night.
• Follow Up – W 5th St – In reference to a complaint of possible entering auto suspects residing at the residence. Contact was made with three subjects. They will be added to case as persons of interest. Report updated.
• Area Check – Downtown on Foot – All ok.
• Illegal Parking – Green St – In reference to a large block party in the area. The area was checked, vehicles could pass through on the roadway. All ok.
• Disturbing the Peace – E Washington St – In reference to vehicles driving recklessly in the area, the area was checked without contact.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Felker Park – In reference to vehicle with no license plate containing three unlicensed juveniles after hours. A licensed adult arrived on scene and picked up the vehicle.
• Firearms – Green St – In reference to the complainant hearing multiple gunshots in the area. The area was checked; there was a large block party, however no gunshot was observed.
• Road Hazard – E. Marable St / Maple Ln – In reference to a steel road cover getting knocked out of place, the Roadway was blocked until it could be fixed.
• Loitering – E Church St; Chestnut Cupboard – Typical extremely large crowd at the store. The store employee called to have everyone removed due to fights. MPD arrived on scene and were able to disband the crowd.
• 911 Hang-Up – Breedlove Dr; Ridgeview – All ok at location.
• Loud Music – Landers St – Music located at the chestnut cupboard was advised to cut the music down.
• Dispute – Fawnfield Dr – In reference to a dispute between two subjects, parties were separated.
• Dispute – GW Carver Dr. – In reference to an unidentified female subject banging on subject’s door. The subject left without incident prior to Officer arrival. All okay.
• Alarm – Etten Dr; C/B Partners – All OK on location.
• Follow Up – Breedlove Dr.; Ridgeview – In reference to an incident that occurred the previous date. After further investigation, a named subject was placed under arrest for Aggravated Battery and transported to WCSO without issue.
• Theft Report – W Spring St – In reference to the complainant advising he had items stolen from him in Atlanta. He was advised to file a report with APD.
