Obituary and funeral service: Janice Landress Gates, 59, of Social Circle

Janice Landress Gates, 59, of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Broadnax officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Joyce Landress. 

Jan is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Brian Gates; her daughters, Codie (James) Dickerson and Hannah (Nick) Bentley; her grandchildren, Brogan and Reagan Bentley, and Liam Dickerson. She is also survived by her sister, Pam (Chris) Lake, her brother, Billy Landress, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. 

She found joy in the simple things in life. She loved camping and traveling to Georgia’s state parks with their three dogs, Bat, Wyatt, and Doc and looked forward to trips to the beach. She enjoyed adding to her collection of purses, Precious Moments and pig figurines. Being “Gwan” was one of her greatest blessings and she never missed an opportunity to spoil and care for her grandchildren. 

Those who knew Jan will remember her kind heart, her willingness to help anyone in need, and the love she had for her family. She leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved her. 

Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing she is now resting in the loving arms of our Lord. Her love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain with us forever.
