MONROE, Ga. — (July 19, 2026) Piedmont Walton Hospital and its emergency services provider, TeamHealth, have donated $1,500 to the Walton County YMCA to support its Summer Water Safety and Drowning Prevention program.
The program teaches children and adults essential water safety skills aimed at preventing drowning and promoting safe behavior around water.
“Drowning prevention starts with education,” Tony Bullon, M.D., medical director for Emergency Services at Piedmont Walton Hospital said in a press release. “Programs like the Walton County YMCA’s Safety Around Water initiative help equip children and caregivers with life-saving skills, and we are proud to support this important work.”
The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program helps children become more confident in and around water while learning skills that can reduce the risk of drowning. According to the YMCA, drowning is the second-leading cause of death for children ages 5 to 14.
More than 1 million children participate in YMCA swim lessons each year, with program results showing improved water safety skills among participants. The donation will help the Walton County YMCA continue providing water safety instruction and education to local children and families.
Piedmont Walton Hospital and TeamHealth said they are proud to support programs that promote safety and healthier communities throughout Walton County.
