Postponements and cancellations as a result of TS Irma

Several county and city monthly meetings and civic events have been postponed as a result of Tropical Storm Irma and cleanup efforts after the storm. Please note the following rescheduling.

City of Loganville – the Called Council meeting of the Loganville City Council that was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, will now take place in conjunction with the regular September City Council Meeting on Sept. 14, 2017, in Council Chambers at the new Loganville City Hall, 4303 Lawrenceville Road, Loganville. The meeting will begin at 6.30 p.m.

City of Monroe – the regular September meeting for the Monroe City Council scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, has been postponed for a week and will now take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 in the Monroe City Hall Council Chamber, N. Broad Street in Monroe. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Walton County Board of Commissioners –  The monthly Board of Commissioners meeting has been postponed until next Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at the Historic Court House on S. Broad Street. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Walton County Board of Education – Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled Walton County Board of Education meeting has been moved to Wednesday, September 13 at 5:30 p.m. All scheduled recognitions will take place on Wednesday.

Walton County School District – The Walton County School District will resume its normal schedule on Wednesday, September 13. All schools and administrative offices will be open. Please be advised that while all buses will be running, they may experience some delays due to alternate routes.

Walton County Chamber of Commerce – Due to the number of businesses and residents with power outages, the Walton County Chamber of Commerce has cancelled its September luncheon for Wednesday, Sept. 13. The October Membership Luncheon will take place the first Wednesday of October, Oct. 4, and this will be the United Way Kick-off.

The City of Social Circle – The City of Social Circle has two shelters open that have power. Social Circle United Methodist Church and Corinth Church. If you need to charge devices or just want to get out and visit, you are invited to come by. The Salvation Army will have a canteen set up at the Social Circle United Methodist Church about 5 p.m. Sept. 12 to serve dinner. They will serve lunch and dinner while the power is out. You can stay and eat at the church or you can take it to go. There also will be meals delivered to Corinth for those who are sheltered there.

Social Circle City School – Due to power outages, and impassable road conditions, the decision has been made to cancel all classes and school activities for Wednesday September 13th.
