The Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts will celebrate the grand opening of its new Pottery Your Way studio with a community open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.
Visitors can enjoy pottery demonstrations, explore the center’s expanding pottery program and Glaze and Gather paint-your-own pottery offerings, and take part in a drop-in Handbuild a Mug workshop with pottery artist Rebecca Good from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop costs $35 per mug, with finished pieces ready for pickup in about two weeks.
The celebration will also feature a barbecue fundraiser benefiting the pottery program. Proceeds will help service and repair the studio’s kilns and purchase replacement parts to keep the program growing. No pottery experience is necessary for the workshop.
