School’s back, Labor Day is just around the corner and before you know it Halloween will be done and we’ll be well into the holiday season. Again, things are unlikely to be easy financially for many families. Every year, organizations and agencies step up to help make sure that as many children as possible still get to share in the excitement of the Christmas season despite financial difficulties. The City of Monroe Police Department has participated for many years through Shop with A Cop and for the third year, the MPD will host its now annual SWAT Trot 5K run to help fund this event. All proceeds go toward Shop with a Cop.
You are invited to get involved and help make this season special for children who may not otherwise get the opportunity. This event will again bring together fitness enthusiasts, families, walkers, and supporters of all ages to raise funds for this year’s Shop with a Cop in Monroe. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just looking for a fun way to stay active, this gives you an opportunity to do your bit to support the local community. Anybody can sign up, or just donate, and get a t-shirt even if they choose not to run.
According to MPD, this year’s race is more than a run—it’s an opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, and make a difference for local children.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family, or simply supporting a great cause, you’re invited to join the fun and “run, walk, give back.{
The event takes place on Saturday, Oct.17, 2026. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Monroe Police Department located at 140 Blaine Street.
Every registered participant will receive a limited-edition commemorative 250th Anniversary race shirt. Register by Oct. 1, 2026, to guarantee your shirt size and availability. Limited quantities will be available after October 1 on a first-come, first-served basis.
