Project is expected to take about 4 weeks

Gainesville, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has issued a Notice to Proceed for a turn lane improvement project at the intersection of State Route (SR) 20 and SR 84 in Gwinnett County. The project will extend the existing westbound left turn lane on SR 20 by approximately 300 feet.
Crews will remove a portion of the existing grassed median and replace it with pavement to increase turn lane capacity, easing congestion and improving traffic flow at this busy intersection.
Project Details:
- Project ID: S016124
- Scope: Extend westbound SR 20 left turn lane by removing 300 feet of median and paving
- Location: SR 20 at SR 84
- Timeline: Approximately 4 weeks, weather permitting
- Start Date: Week of July 8, 2025
- Contract Amount: $150,996.00
- Contract Completion Date: September 30, 2025
