Update: 27-year-old Monroe man hit by car Friday night

On 28 April 2017 at approximately 10:26 p.m. Officers responded to motor vehicle accident, involving a pedestrian, in the area of E. Spring Street and Hammond Drive.  27 year old Nicholas Padilla, of Monroe, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.  Padilla was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center with serious, but non life threatening injuries.  The accident was worked by Georgia State Patrol.​

Initial report

Monroe Fire Department report that a male was struck by a vehicle somewhere in the area of E. Spring and Hammond Drive in Monroe sometime around 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening.

“Fire crews arrived to find their patient still laying on the hood and the windscreen of the vehicle,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Owens. “Monroe Fire Department assisted with initial patient care and assisted Walton EMS for transport to Athens Regional.”

Awaiting further details from Monroe Police Department. Public Safety Director Keith Glass said the injuries were serious but not believed to be life threatening.
