Update: Bridge repair work complete and Emmett Still Road opens

Bridge work is complete and Emmett Still Road is now open, according to the Walton County government. The road re-opened on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.

The Walton County government has provided a map of the detour route around the Emmett Still Road bridge, which utilizes Centerhill Church Road, Highway 81, and Guthrie Cemetery Road.

Walton County officials advised that the bridge on Emmett Still Road is closed beginning immediately until further notice for repairs.

“We greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, please know that citizen’s safety is our main concern,” officials wrote on the website.

“Inspection of the bridge structure showed undermining and scouring around bridge abutments and wing-walls,” Walton County public information officer Diane Baggett said. “Repairs are expected to begin next week and should be finished before schools resume in January.”
