LOGANVILLE, GA (May 14, 2026) – Work on a major renovation project at Loganville’s popular Toddler Park is set to begin June 1, with city officials announcing the park will temporarily close for approximately 120 days while upgrades are completed.

The downtown park, located at the corner of C.S. Floyd Road and Pecan Street in Loganville, is designed specifically for young children and is one of the city’s most heavily used recreational spaces.

According to city officials, the project will focus on improving safety, accessibility and sensory play opportunities for children of all abilities. The work has been awarded to Lagniappe Development Company and includes a complete resurfacing of the playground area, installation of inclusive play equipment for children with disabilities, and new sensory stations designed to encourage interactive play.

Assistant City Manager Dr. Jeff Smith acknowledged the temporary inconvenience caused by the closure but said the improvements will be worthwhile for families who regularly use the park.

“We know the closure will be an inconvenience to those who enjoy Toddler Park, but the finished product will be worth the wait,” Smith said.

Mayor Branden Whitfield said the upgrades reflect the city’s commitment to creating inclusive recreational spaces for children.

“By including inclusive facilities, we are ensuring that all of our youngest residents have a place to play and grow,” Whitfield said.

The project stems from a previously approved plan by the Loganville City Council to modernize the downtown playground while improving accessibility and safety features. During earlier discussions, Council Member Patti Wolfe emphasized the importance of ensuring public playgrounds are welcoming to all children.

“Playgrounds should be for all children, and this will accomplish that,” Wolfe said.

Smith noted the improvements will not only benefit children and families but also enhance the appearance of the downtown district with a refreshed, modernized play area. Officials said additional updates regarding construction progress and the park’s reopening timeline will be shared as the project moves forward.
