Update

Gwinnett County Police Department announce that Raul Arruevalle has been arrested.

“At around 9:30pm last night (06/29/2017), the suspect was located in the area of East Hill Way and Victor Trail in unincorporated Norcross.  The tip of his whereabouts came from a local reporter who had made contact with Raul.  Raul was eventually transported to the Gwinnett County Jail following an interview at GCPD Headquarters,” GCPD wrote in a follow up press release.

Initial story

The Gwinnett County Police Department Criminal Investigations Section is seeking the  public’s help in locating Raul Arruevalle, described as a “dangerous wanted person,” with an active warrant in Gwinnett County for Aggravated Assault. According to a press release from GCPD, the suspect told the victim that he was from out of town and unfamiliar with the area, asking for a ride to a home in Duluth. She agreed and after giving her several different directions, the man reached over and turned off the ignition at the intersection of Green Street and Eagle Terrace in Duluth. He then allegedly produced a knife and began to lunge at her. She called for help and the suspect got out the car and ran away, leaving behind his cell phone on the passenger seat.

The victim had a small cut to her hand and, although the suspect’s intention is not known at this time, the victim believes the suspect may have wanted to take her to a location to possibly rape her.

Arruevalle has been positively identified as the suspect, but his whereabouts are unknown at this time. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

“Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured in this crime.  But, it is imperative that Arruevalle is arrested quickly before he tries to hurt someone else.  Giving courtesy rides to complete strangers could have serious consequences,” Cpl. Michele Pihera, public information officer for GCPD said in a press release.

Arruevalle is described as about 5.03 feet and weighing about 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, has slight facial hair and a prominent scar on his left cheek. He also goes by “Raul Valle” and Raul Arrue Valle.”

If anyone has any information about where Arruevalle can be found, they are asked to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.  Case Number:  17-055705
