The Walton County composite squadron of the Civil Air Patrol will be hosting a community involvement event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 4 to reach out to the local community in a fun-filled format for ages 12 and up. All minor participants need to have completed waiver in hand, and adult participation is required for any minor under the age of 16.
“This community based event is to introduce Civil Air Patrol to the local community, explain who we are and what we do in a fun and hands on way. We will be hosting many events, where each community participant will be able to exercise their leadership, problem solving skills and teamwork abilities,” said Lt. Col. Lawrence Lyles, Squadron Commander. “We cordially invite you to attend!”
The event will be at the Monroe airport, main gate on Towler Street. A waiver, available for print out at this link must be completed for all participants. Both boys and girls are welcome- ages 12 and up, regardless of ability or disability.
“We are an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, but participants are under no obligation to join any branch of the military,” Lyles said. “All participants will need to wear weather appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes or athletic shoes (no heels or boots one cannot walk comfortably on rough terrain in) and bring a sack lunch.”
All intended participants will need to reserve space by emailing their name, phone number, age of participants and number of participants to jmkado@yahoo.com no later than March 2, 2017.
