Alcovy Judicial Superior Court to remain open for ‘essential functions’ such as domestic abuse TPOs

press release from Walton County Government

Walton County Government released the following statement regarding Superior Court in Walton and Newton County

The Superior Courts will remain open and a judge will be available to address “essential functions” as provided in the Amended Order Declaring Statewide Judicial Emergency as entered on March 14, 2020, by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Priority will be given to matters necessary to protect the health, safety, and liberty of individuals. As a result, domestic abuse temporary protective orders and restraining orders will be addressed when filed as well as criminal cases involving the granting or revocation of bond, guilty pleas or other dispositions that would result in a defendant being released from jail, and similar cases.

All other criminal and civil cases that do not involve matters necessary to protect the health, safety, and liberty of individuals (as defined above) are continued, unless specially set by a judge at his discretion.

If you have any questions about your case, please call your attorney. Civil and criminal calendars for each judge will be published on the Alcovy Judicial Circuit website, www.alcovycircuit.com.
