Branden Whitfield announces a run for mayor of Loganville

press release from branden whitfield

I am Branden Whitfield, and I am kindly asking for your vote for Mayor of Loganville. I am a 3rdgeneration Loganville area native, and my wife and I are raising our two young daughters, ages 7 and 3 years old, here in the City of Loganville. I want to keep Loganville a loving, safe, and fun community that they would be proud to call home.

Branden Whitfield

I am a long-time local businessman and blessed to call our Main Street in downtown Loganville the home of one of my businesses. I graduated from Kennesaw State University, earning my bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in Management. I have also served our local community through four years on City Council, served previously on the Loganville Development Authority, and am a proud board member of the Loganville Legacy Lions Club and the Northeast Georgia Council for Scouting, as I am an Eagle Scout myself. Since my involvement with the City of Loganville, I have completed many hours in training through the Georgia Municipal Association and the Georgia Downtown Association. I believe this comprehensive understanding of how cities operate and grow appropriately, alongside my desire to seek out and help solve the needs of locals, makes me uniquely qualified to get started on day 1 without a learning curve. I will bring my leadership ability to the forefront of my candidacy, utilizing my skills and experience to work toward a better Loganville.

My platform would be to keep budget priority on improving aging infrastructure and public safety. Implement strategies that allow citizens, council, and city staff to work towards common goals, making a more successful environment for all. Garner a “People First” community through a better built environment, increasing sidewalk network, trails, and pathways that better connect people, to lead to less dependency on vehicles. Establish Downtown Loganville as the true Heart of the community, with continual improvements towards a viable live, work, play district, without compromising the small-town feel.

As mayor- I will work with council to put in place biannual to quarterly planning retreats to focus on short- and long-term planning by our council and city leadership, with the intention of creating easy-to-understand document(s) for staff and council to use as a guide on what decisions benefit Loganville the best, and allow us to more easily work towards common goals together. There are also micro projects/initiatives I would like to get off the ground to strengthen and better the Loganville community as mayor. For example:

·         Spreading joy through the city with the continuation of our Heart mascot program in schools, businesses, and events

·         Start a mayor’s reading club to promote higher literacy rates

·         A town scavenger hunt to increase awareness of many local businesses and historical places

·         A Loganville 101 course for citizens to sign up for to increase positive citizen engagement, participation, and knowledge of local government

·         Start a quarterly city-wide clean-up day to fight pollution and help keep the city clean

These little initiatives seem small, but their impact would be profound on our connections to our community and each other, leading to big positive changes for Loganville’s future.

There is a lot more that I simply will not be able to fit in here, so please, reach out to me via phone or email, and keep a watch out for my campaign website where I will go more in depth on commonly asked questions, what I support, and more ideas for the betterment of the beautiful City of Loganville we all call home.

With togetherness, we all succeed. Win With Whitfield.
