Statement from Hitachi Automotive Systems of the Americas, Inc.

An employee, who called off sick from work since 3/11, notified us yesterday that they tested positive for COVID-19.  This employee seems to be coping well and is at home resting and recovering.  However, with the employee’s help and cooperation, we immediately identified and communicated with employees that may have been exposed to this employee.  None of these employees reported any symptoms, but following our internal guidelines, we have placed them all on quarantine at home and advised them to immediately contact their personal physician for possible treatment and testing.  Our plant nurse will monitor their progress closely. We are also working closely with, and cooperating with the GA Department of Public Health and also reached out to Walton County EMA.   We will continue to take every precaution necessary to safeguard the well-being of our employees.

Walton County has not officially had anybody living in the county test positive for COVID-19 at this time. It is possible that the employee of Hitachi Automotive Systems of the Americas, Inc. who has tested positive is not a resident of Walton County.
