Investigation was result of the March 26 structure fire in Loganville
A Lilburn man has been arrested in connection with a string of arson fires across multiple Georgia counties, including Loganville. Authorities say 42-year-old Javon J. Heard faces multiple charges after a March 26 incident in which three fires were reported within minutes of each other—a brush fire on Logan Drive, a commercial structure fire on C.S. Floyd Road, and another fire off Atlanta Highway.
Fire investigators determined all three fires were intentionally set. The commercial blaze caused significant damage to part of a strip-style building, though a fire-rated wall prevented the entire structure from being destroyed.
The Loganville Fire Marshal’s Office, working with local and state agencies, identified Heard through surveillance footage and coordinated investigative efforts spanning Walton, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties.
Heard is currently in custody in DeKalb County on additional arson charges. In Loganville, he faces charges including first-degree arson, criminal damage to property, burning of wildlands, and reckless conduct. Fire Chief Tim Johnson praised investigators for their work in connecting the cases and identifying a suspect.
“I would like to publicly recognize the Loganville Fire Marshal’s Office for their hard work in tying all of the scenes together and locating the person responsible,” Loganville Fire Chief Tim Johnson said. “This was an outstanding job by everyone involved.”
