Monroe, GA – The Walton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has vaccinated eligible Walton County employees for COVID-19 and is now opening up the vaccination site to Walton County residents.

“Walton County EMA worked with the Georgia Department of Public Health to operate a vaccination site for County employees in hopes we would be able to offer the vaccine to all residents of Walton County. We were able to vaccinate all employees who wanted to vaccinate and look forward to opening the site to Walton County residents as early as Wednesday, March 31, 2021. We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to any individuals who meet DPH guidelines. As we are administering the Moderna vaccine, recipients must be at least 18 years of age. The link for registration will be available on Walton County’s website,” Carl Morrow, Walton County EMA Director said in a press release. “We look forward to serving the families of Walton County through this next stage of the pandemic.”

Morrow worked with the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) to open a vaccination site to administer the vaccine to Walton County Government employees and Municipal employees located in Walton County earlier this week. By partnering with local first responders and local volunteers, Morrow offered vaccination appointments from Wednesday, March 24, 2021, through Friday, March 26, 2021, to anyone meeting the Georgia DPH criteria. The same services are now being offered to all residents in the county. The vaccination site was drive through, with recipients of the vaccine not required to get out of their cars. After receiving the vaccine, the recipients sat in their cars for a 15 minute period under the watchful eyes of EMS workers to ensure no immediate side effects.
