Walton County Government to delay opening until 10 a.m.
WALTON COUNTY, GA (Feb. 1, 2026) – Walton County Public Schools announced Sunday that schools will be out on Monday due to the conditions of the road. The following statement was released on social media:
Due to road conditions in portions of the county, the Walton County School District will be closed on Monday, February 2, 2026. This decision was made after the district’s transportation department coordinated with local emergency officials to evaluate road conditions.
The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority.
We sincerely thank local county officials and crews who have continuously worked to clear roads and improve conditions while prioritizing community safety. We also appreciate our families’ understanding as safety guides our decisions.
Walton County Government will delay opening until 10 a.m. and Walton County Courts have delayed trial jury duty from Feb. 2 to Feb. 3.
If you received summons for jury duty on Feb. 3, it will remain as directed on your notification. Regular criminal court with Judge McCamy on Monday Feb. 2 must still appear but at a delayed start. The courthouse will open at 10 a.m.
The rest of the week returns to the previously scheduled plans.
