In today’s increasingly reliance on technology in all parts of our lives, Carver Middle School is reaching out to parents who need the guidance and support to make sure their children get the best education they can get. CMS is holding a Parent University session on “How to be a Tech Savvy Carver Parent” on October 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the school. All Walton County parents are welcome to attend even if they don’t have a student at CMS.
Step one is reaching out to the school and to nurture a partnership with your child’s teachers. 7th Grade Assistant Principal Kristin Fanning explains, “It’s imperative that this happens first. While the WCPS excels at communication, it takes two to make a partnership work.”
Step two is learning about all the applications that you’ll need to track your child and their grades. The most used apps are
● Infinite Campus (the best source for a parent to track daily attendance, grades, schedules)
● Talking Points (the texting app where you and the school can communicate)
● Schoology (a cloud-based learning management system designed to connect a student’s education progress to the teachers and the parents)
The county’s official website at www.walton.12.ga.us has a tab for Family Resources and Quick Links for family help.
Fanning finishes, “Carver recognizes that parents are their child’s first and best teacher. We just want to help them help their children.”
