A new local initiative of Choose Walton, a branch of the Development Authority of Walton County, identified 20 career paths with strong opportunities right here in the community based on statewide and Northeast Georgia workforce needs.
The purpose and mission of the Development Authority of Walton County is to promote trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities for the public good and general welfare and to promote the economic welfare of Walton County as well of the State of Georgia.
This new initiative highlights career opportunities for students planning their futures, parents helping children explore career options and adults considering a career change. The career list was developed by starting with Georgia’s statewide high-demand careers, narrowing the list to reflect the needs of Northeast Georgia, and then identifying opportunities specific to Walton County.
According to the results and reasons behind the initiative, high-demand careers aren’t necessarily somewhere else — opportunities are available right here in Walton County with the potential for good pay, good benefits and meaningful work.
So whether you’re a student thinking about what comes after graduation, a parent helping your child explore options, or someone looking for a new career path, there may be more opportunity here in Walton County than you realize with good pay, great benefits and meaningful work.
