Couple donates surprise winnings to two local charities and receives a surprise winning of their own

MONROE, GA A shopping trip to a Verizon store in Monroe earlier this year turned into a life-changing surprise for one local couple.

Clint and Tammy Hyde were recently presented with $20,000 through Round Room’s “Get10, Give10” program after making a purchase at the Verizon authorized retailer located at 1022 Pavilion Parkway in March.

During a check presentation held May 15, the Hydes were initially told they would be receiving $10,000 to donate to organizations of their choice. The couple selected two local nonprofits to benefit from the award — the Walton County Senior Citizens Council and the Boys & Girls Club of Walton County.

However, the surprise did not end there. During the event, the Hydes learned they would also receive an additional $10,000 for themselves.

Round Room, which operates more than 1,200 Verizon authorized retail stores nationwide, created the “Get10, Give10” initiative as a way to support both customers and the communities they serve. Each quarter, one customer who recently made a purchase at a participating store is randomly selected for the program.

Under the initiative, recipients are first awarded $10,000 to donate to a local organization they are passionate about before being surprised with an additional personal gift of $10,000.
