COVID-19 related deaths reported for the month of January 2021: Georgia 2,698; Gwinnett 153; Walton 61

Reported COVID-19 related deaths in Walton County went from 88 on Jan. 1, 2021 to 149 on Jan. 31, 2021, an increase of 61 deaths for the month. More than half of those deaths, 35, were in this last week of the month.

In Gwinnett County, reported COVID-19 related deaths went from 565 on Jan. 1, to 718, an increase of 153 for the month and in Georgia, reported COVID-19 related deaths increased by 2,698 for the month from 9,872 on Jan. 1 to 12,570 on Jan. 31.

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021. Gwinnett County is reporting no more deaths in the past 24 hours, Walton County is reporting no more deaths and Georgia is reporting two more deaths in the past 24 hours.

Editor’s Note: The numbers are lower on Sunday and Monday due to the lack of reporting on the weekend.

Walton County

Cases – 6,703 – 37 more cases reported in the past 24 hours – 657 in the past 2 weeks 
Cases per 100,000 – 6,996 cumulative (686 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 149 – that’s 0 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours (deaths per 100,000 is 155.5)
Testing 19.3 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 15.4 % (19.3 % of those tested came back positive over the past 2 weeks) 

Gwinnett County

Cases – 73,712 – that’s 242 more cases reported in the past 24 hours  (9,315 in the past 2 weeks).
Cases per 100,000 – 7,590 cumulative (959 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 718 – That’s 0 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours (73.9 deaths per 100,000 reported)
Testing – 17.2 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 13.2 % (17.2 % of those tested came back positive over the past 2 weeks)

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 749,867 that is 3021 more cases reported over the past 24 hour. An additional 741 Antigen positive cases also were reported in the past 24 hours for a total 3,797 positive cases.
ICU admissions – 8,390 – 9 more admissions reported in the past 24 hours. Hospitalizations – 50,237 – That’s 105 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours.
Total deaths – 12,570– That is 2 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

A total of 6,452,746 PCR/Molecular tests have been performed and 445,208 antibody tests. That is 27,704 PCR/Molecular test results reported in the last 24 hours. Of the these tests performed collectively, 719,935 (11.2 %) have come back positive and 61,213 (13.7 %) antibody tests have come back positive. Today 3,459 (12.5 %) PCR/Molecular tests came back positive.

Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

Great Oaks, Monroe – 30 confirmed staff members and 65 residents. That’s no more resident and no more staff members reported positive in the past 24 hours. There have been 13 deaths, that’s no more reported in the past 24 hours.

Hollander Senior Living, Monroe, Two residents, 3 confirmed staff case, two deaths – That’s no more staff members or residents reporting positive and no more deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Magnolia Senior Living – Loganville – (Gwinnett County) has 2 staff members who have tested positive – That is no additional case reported in the past 24 hours.

Park Place, Monroe – 120 resident cases, 66 confirmed staff cases, 35 deaths – That’s no more staff members, no more residents cases and no more deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

The Retreat at Loganville Pearl Memory Care – 32 confirmed resident cases, five deaths – 9 staff members – That’s no more staff members, no more residents and no more deaths in the past 24 hours.

The Retreat at Loganville: 39 confirmed resident cases – 25 staff cases and 6 deaths. That is no more residents, no more staff cases or resident deaths in the past 24 hours.

Social Circle Nursing and Rehab in Social Circle is reporting that 23 residents and 13 staff members tested positive for COVID-19 and two resident death were reported. No more cases reported or deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
