The Walton County Board of Education has unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Amanda Brantley as the next principal of Walnut Grove High School for the 2026–2027 school year. She takes over from WGHS principal Lindsey Allen who retires at the end of the current school year.

Superintendent Chip Underwood praised Brantley’s extensive background in instructional leadership, school operations and campus culture, noting her experience across multiple school systems and her focus on building strong relationships with students, teachers and families.
Dr. Brantley currently serves as assistant principal at Walnut Grove High School, where she oversees several academic departments and has worked to improve attendance procedures and strengthen intervention support systems for students.
Before joining Walton County, Brantley served as an elementary principal in Houston County, Peach County Schools and Austin Independent School District in Texas. Throughout her career, she has led school improvement initiatives focused on literacy, mathematics achievement, school culture and campus operations, while also managing Title I budgets and renovation projects.
A graduate of Mercer University, Brantley earned her doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the university and holds a Georgia professional leadership certificate. She has also been recognized for her work in literacy leadership and mentoring aspiring principals.
“It is a true honor to serve the Warrior family as the new principal of Walnut Grove High School,” Brantley said. “I am deeply committed to building upon the solid foundation already in place and ensuring that every student graduates enrolled, enlisted, or employed.”
