The weather was perfect Saturday for Monroe’s inaugural Farm to Table Dinner on Court Street downtown. An elegant spread of food prepared with produce from local farmers was enjoyed by the guests at the event. With such items on the menu as grilled chicken kebabs, English peas with bacon and creme fraiche and strawberry desert, the food was sophisticated, elegantly prepared, healthy and, most importantly, it showcased the fruits of labor of local farmers. During dinner, guests young and old and everywhere in between were treated to music by local talent Chuck Wysocki.
A silent auction also helped raise funds. Proceeds from this event benefit the Monroe Farmers Market, which begins May 13 and continues until Oct. 14, 2017.
