McKenzi Middlebrooks graduated from Walnut Grove High School last month and, in between getting ready to begin college, is battling ovarian cancer. Mckenzi made national news recently when she shaved her head before another round of chemotherapy. As she and her family take on this battle, Kristen Henshaw of Fitness Kulu, LLC, of Loganville is organizing a community event to help make things a little easier financially for the family. On June 24, from 1 – 3:30 p.m., this “Dance Fitness” charity fundraising “dance fitness” event named “Move It For McKenzi.”
“One of my students is good friends with the family and approached me, hoping to organize a fundraiser for the family. It would appear that we have a fantastic response and I am hoping we can raise even more funds and awareness for them with some more exposure! I have an incredible lineup of instructors from three different “dance fitness” formats – Zumba, Hip Hop, and Bailango,” Henshaw said. “I have also had a wonderful response from people and companies donating raffle prize items to give away. Admission is $10/person, raffle tickets are $2/each. All profit goes to McKenzi and her family. Meridian Gym has been kind enough to open their doors to us and give us a nice large venue and we would love to FILL it with supporters for McKenzi and her family!”
