Barrow County – Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will begin installing a temporary traffic signal next week at the intersection of SR 81 and Tom Miller Road/Tanners Bridge Road in Barrow County.
As part of the work, maintenance crews have already completed grading the roadway shoulders to accommodate temporary signal trailers. Crews are now coordinating the installation of the signal with new pavement markings, signage and other traffic control devices to ensure the intersection is ready for operation. Portable message boards are expected to be placed in the area early next week to alert motorists of the upcoming traffic pattern changes.
The temporary signal is being installed to improve safety and traffic operations while Georgia DOT continues advancing plans for the permanent roundabout at the intersection.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, remain alert and watch for crews working near the roadway during installation.
