Our creative workshops (so far!) this month …
Watercolor and Ink Miniature Paintings: Saturday, April 6 from 10 – 1 (bring a lunch or snack!). Learn how to create miniature paintings with watercolors and archival inks with watercolorist Twyla Gemain. $25 for members; $30 for non-members. Supply fee: Please bring $5 cash to Twyla at the time of class. All supplies provided. Please register by April 4. REGISTER HERE
Floral Design: Saturday, April 13 or Saturday, April 27 at 2 – 4 pm. Learn professional floral design from 11-year professional floral designer, Maria Ramos. Learn design, flower care and more to get the most out of your arrangements. $15 for members; $20 for non-members. Please bring your own flowers, container, paring knife and stem cutter and a supply fee of $5. If you want Maria to supply the flowers and a container the supply fee is $25. Please bring cash for the supply fee to the class. Register by 4/11 or 4/25. REGISTER HERE
Spring Bouquet Acrylic Painting: Tuesday, April 16 from 6 – 8. Instructor: Sarah Smith. Please register at least 48 hours in advance. Paint a pretty spring bouquet to brighten any corner of your home! $32 for members: $37 for non-members. Includes all supplies. Sip & Paint – BYOB and a snack if you like! REGISTER HERE
Fanciful Clay Garden Art Creatures: Saturday, April 20 – one-hour classes held on the hour from 12 – 4. Create a whimsical clay bird, cat or dog for your garden or patio with the expert help of Rebecca Braswell. $25 for members; $30 for non-members all supplies included. Register by emailing Rebecca atbraswellcr@bellsouth.net. All ages welcome.
Pop Up Cards I: Tuesday, April 23 at 12 – 3 pm. Instructor: Maria Ramos. Learn pop-up papercraft techniques. Maria will teach the “slide” and classic “pop”. We will finish two cards and start you on the road to building your own pop-up book. Please bring scissors, x-actor knife, triangle or small T-square, and different weights of paper. $30 for members; $35 for non-members plus $10 supply fee to pay Maria at time of class. KIDS PAINTING & PIZZA PARTY
April 6 – Saturday – from 12 – 2 pm.
Ages 6+.

Thursday, April 4 — First Thursday of each month – Walton Writers meets here monthly @ 6:30. Are you writing something and are stuck? Need help with your characters? Want to read and get a reaction other than from your dog or cat? Tonight is about you and your writing. Bring something to share with the group. The Southern Pen Bookshop visits MWCA during Antiques Shopping Weekend in Monroe with a legendary sheriff during prohibition, an Atlanta Madam tried for murder, a Civil War Nurse during the Battle of Atlanta, Images of the Pacific Theater during WWI, the man who carved Stone Mountain, and much more. Free!

- This is a JURIED show: This means that we will have a panel of jurists to decide which pieces are allowed into the show. Not all pieces may be accepted into the show; application fee is non-refundable.
- Best in Show Prize: $500; other cash prizes awarded to place winners in 2D, 3D and Photography
- Show judge: Alyson Vuley, Educational Programs Manager, Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University
- Reception: Thursday, May 23 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm
- Pick up dates: June 14 – 15.
- Fee: $35 for up to three pieces.
Summer ART Camp registration is open!!
In June and July 2019, we offer four weeks of mixed media camps; plus one week of clay camp.
Mixed Media Camps will be age-appropriate for ages 5 – 8 and 9 – 12. These camps will offer a wide range of exposure to different mediums. Our focus this year will be on Space; we are creating a Galaxy Gallery that will be in progress through all camps and open to the public. The kids will create projects that they will bring home but also work together as a group to create community artwork for the gallery. Our Camp Instructors are all experienced art teachers. These camps will feature projects that will expand your child’s artistic abilities! Each camp will offer different projects.
We also offer CLAY CAMP. Both hand-built and wheel-thrown pieces will be created in clay.
ALL Camps are $135 per week for members; $145 per week for non-members. Pay for your camp first After we receive your payment we will email you a Google Form to fill out on-line to complete your registration.

Fiber Show
August 7 – October 22
This is a juried show. This means that works must be submitted ahead of time via email/photos to our jurists who will decide which pieces are accepted into this show. Not all works may be accepted into the show. Entry fee is non-refundable.
- Accepting submissions April 1 – June 15, 2019.
- Notification of accepted works will be emailed the week of July 1
- Drop off accepted works – August 1 – 3.
- Show opens August 7 and closes October 22.
- Reception: Thursday, September 12 @ 6 – 7:30 pm.
- Pick up – October 23 – 24.

Our next Volunteer Orientation is Saturday, April 13 at 1pm. Volunteers are needed to act as assistants in our special needs classes.
