BETWEEN, GA (July 15, 2025) – “My mission is to find a hero because that is exactly what the person who gave me one of their kidneys would be,” Brad Westmoreland said to the Walton Tribune back in 2016 when he was in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

He found that hero, much closer than he expected. His wife, Tonya, turned out to be the perfect match. She was the hero who donated one of her kidneys to her husband.

Before Tonya was found to be a match, the Westmorelands had put up a sign on the family property alongside Highway 78 in Between asking drivers passing by to consider organ donation to help save Brad’s life. Since his life was saved by his wife, the family felt the need to pass the miracle along. The sign has since been used many times over the years to feature other persons desperately in need of a kidney. Sometimes, sadly, that didn’t happen in time. But that sign was responsible for saving more than one life.

Now, almost a decade later, Tonya and Brad Westmoreland are in line to win America’s Favorite Couple, a national competition where one couple will win $20,000 and a fairytale photoshoot featured in Variety magazine. They are currently in first place in their group with a love story that shows true commitment through sickness and in health. The voting to keep them in first place to go on to possibly win the top prize ends July 17th. By voting, you can keep them there and help them along to the shortlist for the top prize.
