Loganville Autumn Dash 5K to benefit public safety mental health, PTSD causes

Loganville’s first annual Autumn Dash 5K will give runners and walkers an opportunity to get moving while supporting mental health and PTSD resources for public safety personnel.

The race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 9 a.m., the same day as Loganville’s Autumn Fest. Organizers are encouraging participants to complete the race and then stay downtown to enjoy the festival.

The event is being coordinated by the Loganville Employee Emergency Assistance Fund Corp. (LEEAF), a Loganville-based tax-exempt nonprofit organization established in August 2015.

LEEAF was created to provide financial assistance to Loganville city employees experiencing unexpected hardships. The organization’s purpose is to help employees cope with expenses and emergencies associated with circumstances such as catastrophe, illness, injury, death, disability or disaster, helping support their well-being and employment stability.

Proceeds from the Autumn Dash 5K will go toward public safety mental health and PTSD foundations in Loganville and surrounding communities.

The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Participants who register by Sept. 26 are guaranteed a race T-shirt; after that date, shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
