Loganville seeks community participation for potential new ‘Scarecrows on Main’ tradition

There would be no cost to participate

The City of Loganville is exploring a new fall tradition, “Scarecrows on Main,” and is seeking input from local businesses and community organizations before moving forward.

The proposed October event would invite businesses, nonprofits, schools, churches, civic groups and other community organizations to create their own unique scarecrow to be displayed throughout Downtown Loganville for the month.

The colorful displays would add a festive fall atmosphere to downtown while giving local groups an opportunity to showcase their creativity and community spirit. The scarecrows would also be featured during several October events, including the Back the Blue Car Show, Autumn Fest and Trick or Treat on Main Street.

The proposal would include a friendly competition, with residents voting for their favorite scarecrow throughout October. Winners would be announced during Autumn Fest on Oct. 17.

The city is currently conducting an interest check to determine whether there is enough community participation to make the event possible. Local businesses and organizations interested in participating are encouraged to comment “COUNT US IN! on the Facebook post at https://www.facebook.com/LoganvilleEvents.

Additional details would be provided if the city decides to move forward with the event.
