MAHS Purple Hurricanes team and offensive line recognized after clinching regional title

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes don’t have a game this week after clinching the 8-AAA region title last Friday with a 35-21 win on the road against Jefferson, but they are still making headlines. The team was voted Fox 5’s High 5 Team of the Week based on online votes this week and was scheduled for a Pep Rally at the school this morning!

In addition, Georgia High School Football Daily announced that Monroe Areas offensive line of center Caleb Young, guards C.J Garrett and Pressley Rowe, tackles Charlie Jackson, Cooper Jensen and Seth Pannell and fullback/tight end Corbin Spratlin were chosen as the Otter’s Chicken Offensive Line of the Week in their region winning game against Jefferson for “opening the door for more than 500 yards of total offense in a 35-21 region-clinching victory over Jefferson.” It was noted that Monroe Area is “averaging 365.9 yards rushing per game and 9.7 yards per carry with 36 rushing touchdowns.”

In announcing the Pep Rally, Fox 5 noted that so far this season, the team has not lost a game.

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricane varsity football team’s next game is at home on Friday, Nov. 2, against Franklin County. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
