Man injured during robbery at restaurant in Monroe

Monroe Police Department Public Safety Director Keith Glass confirmed that a man was injured in a robbery on Wednesday night at the Hong Kong Kitchen at 762 West Spring Street.

“The incident started when an employee emptying trash was assaulted at the back door of the restaurant. The suspect assaulted the victim while on the ground leaving a large gash on his left elbow and a small scrape on his left knee. The suspect hit the victim in the head with the butt end of a long gun,” Glass said.

The suspects  were described as two black males (one tall and one shorter) wearing masks.

“The suspects  took personal items from an employee, cash from the resister and a tip jar then fled the scene in a blue sedan.

“MPD is actively investigating this crime and following leads on the possible identifications of those involved, Glass said.
