Monroe Police Department announced that the suspect seen on surveillance allegedly stealing a camera and computer equipment out of a jeep while riding past on a bike has been arrested. He was identified as Rodrick Jeff, 19, of Monroe. Detectives have secured warrants for his arrest for entering an auto and he has been taken into custody. He is currently in Walton County Detention Center charged with entering auto and theft by receiving stolen property.
His photograph from the video surveillance was circulated on social media after an employee of the Walton Tribune reported on Oct. 11 that his book bag was removed from his jeep while it was parked on N. Lumpkin Street during the few minutes that he was out of sight. Video of the theft was captured on the surveillance camera from a local business. It is not yet known whether the stolen equipment has been recovered. (Editor’s Note: An arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction)
