MPD Report: $2320 defrauded in apartment scam; Fentanyl overdose in suicide attempt; collisions with deers

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 8 – 14, 2024 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Loitering – Pine Park – In reference to Complainant reporting several subjects sitting on his vehicles. No individuals were observed sitting on any vehicles.
• Juvenile Problem – N. Broad St. (Scoops) complainant was that several juveniles were on location and was refusing to leave after being asked to leave three times. On arrival the subject was gone from location. Contact was made with the subjects sitting in front of Tacos and Beers. They were advised to move on and of curfew approaching.
• Traffic Stop / Arrest – West Spring Street at Breedlove Drive – Named subject stopped for a traffic offense. He was found to have a valid warrant for his arrest out of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. He was arrested without incident and turned over to the Walton County Jail.
• Mental call – E Fambrough St – In reference to Subject calling 911 for an earache, remedies advised.
• Alarm/trespassing – Aycock Ave. – In reference to a black male wearing a black jacket and red pants was wandering through the apartments. The male was observed running through the complex fleeing the area and no contact was made. No damages were observed.
• Suspicious Person – Ridge Road- In reference to the complainant hearing someone knocking on her door. Area was checked, negative contact with anyone outside.
• Suicide attempt – Atha St. In reference to patient getting released from Piedmont-Walton and overdosing on fentanyl as soon as he got home. Three doses of Narcan administered and turned overto EMS where he was transported to Piedmont. A 1013 order was put into effect.
• Business Alarm – Hwy 138 @ Starbucks- In reference to an interior motion alarm activation. Front door was found to be unsecured. Building was cleared, no signs of forced entry or foul play. Front door was pushed closed, and a voicemail was left for the key holder via dispatch.
• Suspicious vehicle – Ash St. In reference to an unknown description of a vehicle driving recklessly in the area. Area checked; negative contact made.
• EMS Assist – W Spring St; Childer’s Park: In reference to Subject overdosing on unknown pills. Turned over to EMS.
• Business Alarm – East Spring Street- In reference to an interior motion alarm activation. Building was checked, everything okay.
• Suspicious vehicle – Hwy 78 & Lee Peters Rd: In reference to the complainant advising of a speeding vehicle unable to maintain lane. The area was checked, and negative contact was made.
• Dispute – Robert Street – In reference to Complainant arguing with her son. Situation mediated; remedies advised.
• Dispute – East Spring Street @ Short Stop – In reference to Complainant verbally disputing with her boyfriend at the gas pump. Situation mediated, everything okay.
• Dispute – Chestnut Lane – In reference to two male subjects that were involved in a physical altercation. Both parties denied medical attention. Due to conflicting stories both parties were issued disorderly conduct citations and separated. Report taken.
• Suspicious vehicle – Georgia Ave: In reference to Complainant advising of Subject parked in front of the gate and knocking on the window. Subject advised he was there to make a delivery in the morning and was advising that he would be parked there through the duration of the night. All appeared ok.
• Dispute Non-Violent – MLK BLVD – Caller stated that he had been tased, He stated that he was at the back of Tractor Supply and the other subjects were in the front parking lot. When the Officer arrived the parties in the front parking lot stated that they had just been standing around and that no one had been arguing or fighting. Complainant was advised to come back on location, and he stated that he was at Chick Fil A now. He was advised to return to location so that he could identify the subject and refused to do so and stated that he no longer wishes to make a report.
• Damage To Property – West Spring Street – In reference to a female driver reporting a collision with a deer on West Spring St at the Gwinnett Clinic. Report taken, Case card given
• Vehicle Unlock – Elm Dr – Vehicle was unlocked Alarm – S. Broad St. – All okay on location.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 @ Bradley Ginn Rd – In reference to a report of a tan Chrysler Sebring failing to maintain lane. Contact made with vehicle. Traffic stop conducted due to FTML. All appeared okay with the driver.
• Suspicious Vehicle – E Marable St truck pulling a trailer in the roadway. It was gone when officers arrived
• Suspicious Vehicle – N Broad St @ Sorrells St – In reference to a report of black Nissan Xterra failing to maintain lane. Area checked with negative contact.
• Vehicle Crash – Hwy 138 – Two-vehicle collision between a Toyota Camry and a flat-bed truck. No injuries. GEARS report completed.
• Damage To Property – West Spring Street – In reference to an unoccupied vehicle being backed into. Attempted to make contact with registered owner of the unoccupied vehicle and was unsuccessful. Report taken.
• Vehicle inspection – Davis St – In reference to a male subject requesting a vehicle inspection for his 1981 trans am. Proper paperwork filled out.
• Scam – Blaine St PD lobby- In reference to Complainant being scammed out of $2320 for an apartment in Loganville report taken.
• Theft – N Broad St in reference to on 11/08/2025 at 0506 hours a subject walked into the office and stole approximately $50.00. The suspect could be known.
• Vehicle Accident – MLK, Jr. Blvd and W. Spring St. – Two vehicle accident. Turned over to MPD Traffic Unit.
• Lost Item – 140 Blaine St; MPD – In reference to Complainant reporting two missing plates off his rental cars. Report taken listed in GCIC as stolen
• Accident – Breedlove Dr – vehicle struck deer. Report taken.
• Mental Patient – E Spring St; Popeye’s Chicken – In reference to Subject requesting to go to the hospital, turned over to EMS.
• Vehicle Unlock – S Broad St – Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Animal Complaint – Sporty Ln- In reference to the resident’s dog being attacked by the neighbor’s dog. Turned over to animal control.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Snows Mill / Bethany Ch – In reference Complainant stating that a vehicle was speeding and tailgating. Negative contact was made with the vehicle.
• Mental Patient – W Spring St; Burger King – In reference to Subject being discharged from the hospital and asking employees for a can opener. She was advised of remedies.
• Dispute – E 6th St – In reference to a dispute between neighbors. Both Subjects were advised of remedies.
• Fire Assist – East Washington – In reference to pot on the stove filling the apartment with smoke.
• Dispute – Parkway Pl: In reference to Complainant wanting his girlfriend’s sister to leave his residence. Both parties separated without incident for the remainder of the night.
• Business Alarm – MLK BLVD – Longhorns all okay employees still on location.
• Vehicle Unlock – East Marable Street- In reference to Complainant locking her keys in her blue Chevrolet Malibu. Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Domestic – East Washington – In reference to a domestic between two parties. One arrested for FVA Battery and False Imprisonment. One was transported to the hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his hand then transported to the Walton County Jail without incident.
• 911 Hang up – Plaza Dr: Weather related. All appeared ok.
