MPD Reports: Female subject asleep at the wheel in the roadway arrested for DUI

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 20 – 26, 2026. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Suspicious Person – Subject on location asking people for food. Subject was advised to leave the location.
• Harassment – In reference to the complainant receiving harassing messages. Temporary Protection Order process advised.
• Damage to Property – Breedlove Dr – In reference to complainant’s truck being struck last date in the parking lot while unoccupied. Report taken.
• Other Law – Maple St – Disabled resident needed some firewood removed from her doorway so she could fit her walker through the path. Firewood removed.
• Civil Issue – Lacy St – In reference to a civil issue over pots and pans being removed from a residence. Remedies advised.
• Disabled Vehicle – Pannell Rd. – In reference to a SUV driving off of the roadway into a culvert, blowing a tire and bending an axle. The driver had changed his tire prior to Officer Arrival. Contact was made with driver and he was ultimately sent on his way.
• Traffic Control – N Lumpkin & E Highland- Gone when officers arrived.
• Other Law – S Broad St – John’s Supermarket – Subject on location causing a scene in the cafe. Staff requested subject to leave but no Trespass Warning. Subject left without incident.
• Suspicious Person – South Hammond – In reference to a male leaving his belongings in the parking lot. Church staff advised they were concerned what was in it. After a search of the abandoned property they put the items on a picnic table on property in case the male came back.
• Identity Theft – Glenwood Dr. – In reference to complainant reporting that a health insurance account through Georgia Access existed using his name and SSN but an incorrect address. No other suspicious activity had been observed on any account by complainant. Report taken.
• Suspicious Persons – E Church St; Pilot Park – In reference to three male subjects on location possibly smoking marijuana. Area checked with negative contact.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W 5th St / Barrett St – In reference to a complaint of two vehicles parked in the roadway. The vehicles were observed on location, however were not disrupting the flow of traffic. All ok.
• Welfare Check – Aycock Ave – Complainant from Michigan calling to check on her mother. No contact at the apartment and her vehicle was not at the apartment. She is in the process of moving from the apartment. After closing the call, I was writing my report when I noticed the female pulling into the complex. I verified she was ok and advised her to call her daughter.
• Area Check – Downtown on Foot – All ok.
• Suspicious Activity – Alcovy St – The complainant stated someone was knocking on her front door. She stated she turned on her flood light and stated she was calling the police. I conducted an area check but did not locate anyone around the home or in the area on foot. The elderly female stated that she buried her husband earlier today and she is worried since she is alone. BWC activated.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Pavilion Pkwy; Publix – In reference to vehicles racing in the Publix parking lot. Multiple vehicles were seen leaving the parking lot upon Officer Arrival.
• Counterfeit – W Spring St; McDonalds – In reference to the manager believing they were given a fake $20 bill. Upon further examination the bill was found to be good.
• Suspicious Vehicle/DUI Arrest – S Broad / Southside Park – In reference to a female subject asleep behind the wheel on the roadway. She consented to go through field sobriety and was found to be under the influence of Alcohol. She was taken into custody and turned over to Jail staff on citations for DUI Less Safe and Impeding the flow of traffic.
• Fight – N Midland Ave – In reference to multiple subjects fighting on scene. Neither party wished to press charges.
