MPD Reports: Homicide, fight, domestic disputes and custody issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 25 – 31, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Suspicious Person – N. Broad St. (Deer Acres Inn) – In reference to a w/m refusing to leave the hotel. Male was gone upon officer’s arrival. 

Dispute – Magnolia Terrace. In reference to a female wanting a report of a incident that occurred last date with her ex-boyfriend. Subject was gone upon the officer’s arrival. She was given a case card and advised on remedies. Warrants were taken for FV Battery and Cruelty to Children 3rd degree. 

Other Law – 3rd St. In reference to a subject needing his tag ran because insurance company called him asking if he was involved in a auto accident. 

Traffic Stop – S. Broad Street & Davis Street. Vehicle was stopped for an expired tag. After investigation the driver was taken into custody for Expired tag, driving while license is suspended, Poss. of Methamphetamine, and Poss. of Drug related objects. Warrants taken. 

Power Lines Down -E.Church St. and S.Madison Ave. Line down was located at 403 E.Church St. Utilities was notified. Line was not in roadway. 

Dispute – Hwy 78. Walton Truck Stop. In reference to the complainant advising that subjects came into the Walton truck stop and picked up items off the shelves and threw them at the complainant. Subjects are now gone. Complainant could not give any names or a good description of subjects while Officer was on scene. 

Prowler Report – Green St Apt B. In reference to the complainant advising that they possibly saw a female subject outside their window, but ran away. Complainant advised that he wanted extra patrol around his residence throughout the night. All ok. 

Dispute – Davis St. In reference to a subject who is putting the complainant’s belongings on the road. Issue was resolved. 

Shots Fired/Homicide – Magnolia Ter. Multiple complainants advised that a male subject had been shot. Upon Officers arrival a male subject was located in the roadway with a single gunshot wound. CID and Crime Scene responded to scene. 

Harassing Call – Hickory Dr. In reference to complainant receiving text messages of pending retaliation against his family from a earlier incident that involved his grandson. Complainant wouldn’t provide any other information. He requesedt extra patrol. 

Child Custody – Plaza Drive. 

Child Custody – South Broad St – 

Fight – S Broad St in reference to several subjects fighting in front of a residence. Contact made with two parties at their residence on Towler Street stating there was an altercation between one party and three family members while on location visiting family. All parties had conflicting testimonies and were warned to stay away from each other’s residences. 

Burglary – W Marable St in reference to complaint hearing someone at his back door, area checked, no contact 

Firearms – Colley St in reference to complainant hearing gun shots. Officers near area heard fireworks, area checked, all okay.
