MPD Reports: Keys and a vehicle stolen from auto dealership; vehicle left behind during follow up attempt

The City of Monroe Police Department is reporting the following incidents for the period March 19 – 26, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute an arrest.

  • Trespassing – N. Broad St. in reference to William Akins was asking customers for money. William was criminally trespassed from the property. 
  • Counterfeit – W. Spring Street (PAPA John’s): In reference to receiving counterfeit money. Report made.
  • Fight – Green St. in reference to a fight in progress. Upon Officers arrival, during the investigation, there were juveniles fighting at the residence.
  • Juvenile Complaint – King St.: In reference to a subject requesting a report in reference to the fight call from Green St. She has an active Warrant out of Cook County Sheriff’s Office, however; they will not extradite.
  • Found Property – Atha St. Chevron. In reference to subject finding and reporting missing wallet. The owner of the wallet stated he was missing approximately $500. Report taken
  • EMS Assist – E. Washington St. Elderly female wanted assistance putting on her medical alert necklace. Dispatched as a possible person down call. All ok
  • Threats – W. Marable St. In reference to a neighbor threatening complainant at her residence.
  • Dispute – Cook St. In reference to roommates having a civil dispute over a couch being thrown away. Advised of civil process.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Graystone Church. In reference to a subject driving erratically. She was listed on GCIC as missing out of Newton County. Turned over to Family arrived at the scene.
  • Burglary -Vine St. United Auto Sales; Subjects entered the business and took keys to several vehicles around 2245 hours. Subjects left the business in a maroon 2007 Ford Explorer that they stole from this location and later returned in the same vehicle. Subjects attempted to steal another vehicle but were unsuccessful and left the Ford Explorer on the scene.
  • Domestic – E. Spring St. Monroe Motor Inn in reference to two parties having an argument. Both parties agreed to stay on location peacefully.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. (South Side): In reference to the complainant having issues with her son. Situation mediated and the complainant was given remedies.
  • Illegal dumping – Forest St. in reference to someone dumping furniture out on his neighbors’ property. The complainant wants extra patrol in the area.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. (Southside Park): In reference to Kenneth Rose had a question in regards to a good behavior bond.
  • Theft – Norris St. in reference to a stolen lawnmower.
  • Harassment – Plaza Dr. Complainant claimed that the subject is threatening him by text messages. Upon Officers arrival, there were no threatening text messages.
  • Loud Music – Nowell St. Spoke with the complainant and the person playing the music. He advised that he would keep it down.
  • Domestic Dispute – E. Spring St. Monroe Motor Inn In reference to Two subjects yelling at each other and throwing objects out of the room. Both parties advised of the warrant process
  • Damage to Property – Wheelhouse Lane. In reference to a subject striking another subjects’ vehicle with a 4 wheeler. Damage noted. report taken.
  • Domestic Dispute -Wells Fargo ATM. Reference to two subjects having a dispute at Cook St. night prior. One subject was arrested for Simple Battery Family Violence. Warrants filed.
  • EMS assist – N. Broad S. Female unresponsive on location. Taken priority 1 to ER. MPD assisted with an escort to ER.
  • Harassment – Maple ln. Spoke with complaint via phone. She advised that the people that live next to her keep bothering her and yelling at her. She was advised on how to handle it.
