MPD Reports: Man falls asleep at Pinecrest and Spring St. traffic light after working long shifts

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 14 – 20, 2025. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Public Drunkenness/Arrest – E Church Street / Colley Street. In reference to a name subject, stumbling and walking in the middle of the roadway. He was placed under arrest for, pedestrian in the roadway and public drunk. He was transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office jail without incident. Report taken.
• Suspicious Person – E Spring St; Mr. Quicks: In reference to a male, matching the description of a wanted subject. The located male was not the wanted subject.
• Agency Assist/Welfare Check – E Spring & Glen Iris / 717 Walton Rd – In reference to a Georgia State Patrol being flagged down by a complainant who was requesting a welfare check for her daughter and her boyfriend regarding a possible domestic dispute. Contact made with residents at Walton Rd who advised they were okay and that the complainant likes to overreact. Report taken. All okay
• Welfare Check – Baker St Apt – In reference to a 75-year-old who had fallen in the living room and could not get up. Forced entry was made via the back door of the residence and the subject was checked on scene by EMS. The back door was re-secured. All ok.
• Intoxicated Subject – Tanglewood Dr – In reference to a subject intoxicated sleeping in the rear seat of his sister’s car. Subject had a black eye and bruising to his face but denied needing medical attention. Subject was advised he could sleep in the rear of the car but was recommended to go inside. All ok
• Suspicious Person – Southside: Juvenile found wandering the park. He was given a ride home to on Walker Drive and turned over to his father.
• Suspicious Vehicle – N.Broad @ 78WB: Tractor trailer parked partially in the roadway. Driver was advised of pertinent traffic laws and sent on his way.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Pinecrest Dr / W Spring St – In reference to observing a white KIA Optima sitting at the intersection of Pinecrest Drive and West Spring Street, through a traffic signal cycle without moving. Contact was made with the driver who was asleep behind the wheel. Driver advised that he had been work a lot of 12 hours shifts lately and was tired. The driver showed no signs of impairment, nor were there any evidence (odor of alcoholic beverage, open containers) present. He advised that he lived at the Pine Ridge Villa Apartments. He was followed home to ensure he arrived safely. All ok.
• Loud Music – Davis St. In reference to the complainant hearing loud music in the area. Contact was made with subjects on location who were advised to keep the noise down. All ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W Spring St; Sims Gas Station – In reference to a maroon KIA parked in the shadows of the closed business. The vehicle was unoccupied. All ok.
• Animal Complaint – McDaniel Street; In reference to a mortally injured deer near the roadway.
• Area Check – Hwy 78/Cedar Ridge- Reference to subject walking on Hwy 78 making suicidal comments to Advantage Behavior Health. Contact made with subject who did not wish to speak with Police or EMS.
• Fraud Report – 140 Blaine St @ MPD; In reference to fraudulent charges on the complainant’s EBT card. Report taken.
• Dispute – Etten Dr- Reference to a male doing burnouts in front of the complainant’s house.
• Damage to Property – E Spring St; Statefarm – In reference to a complainant reporting damage to the trunk on her vehicle. Report taken.
• Dispute – Etten Drive; In reference to previous call. Contact made with complainant and other party. Situation mediated.
• Warrant/Arrest – Towler St; Reference to a named subject spotted driving his vehicle with active felony warrants. Upon contact with the subject, he obstructed officers and refused commands before entering his residence. Officers entered in hot pursuit and took Floyd into custody on his outstanding warrants. Warrant obtained for obstruction. He was transported to the WCSO without issue.
• Welfare Check – South Broad St @ Hardees; In reference to a white male laying in the grass on location. Subject was gone on officers’ arrival.
• Dispute – W Spring St; Reference a female customer upset with food costs and disputing staff. The female was gone prior to officer’s arrival.
• Suspicious Vehicle – South Madison Ave @ South Broad St; In reference to a vehicle driving aggressively in the area. Negative contact.
• Dispute Report – North Broad St @ Texaco; Call in reference to the complainant wanting to know what to do about her ex-husband showing up to her house. Complainant was advised of the TPO and criminal trespass procedure. She was instructed to call the police if there is an issue.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Walker Drive; In reference to a white SUV that is allegedly stolen out of Las Vegas driving by the complainant’s house 10 minutes prior. Negative contact.
• Follow-Up – 140 Blaine St @ MPD- Complainant reported that he was assaulted by subject at Will Henry’s on 05/14/2024. Complainant didn’t originally want to press charges but changed his mind. Further investigation is needed.
• Fire Assist – Alcovy St @ Breedlove Dr; In reference to assist MFD with blocking the roadway while they put out a large brush fire.
• Warrant/Arrest – S Madison- Roger Pope taken into custody on outstanding warrant from WCSO.
• Civil Issue – South Broad St @ Dollar General; In reference to a female subject needing a unit to stand by while she gathered belongings from her ex-boyfriend’s house. Advised of civil remedies in reference to mail that was possibly thrown away by the homeowner when she moved out two months ago.
• Dispute – Booth Dr. – In reference to the complainant, advising a dispute transpired between her and another female identified later. Both parties on location had minor injuries. Due to conflicting stories and no witnesses an arrest was not made. Both parties have explained the warrant and TPO process.
• Other Law – Pavilion Pkwy – The complainant called in that a white male and a black female were having a verbal domestic in the parking lot of Publix. Contact was made with the subject and they stated that they were not arguing that they were singing and talking loud. Subjects were identified and released from the location.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – West Spring Street; Hometown Tires – Vehicle stopped for equipment violation. Subject was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants and transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
• Dispute – Nowell St. – The complainant called stating that a named subject was refusing to leave the location. When Officers arrived the subject was gone from the location. The subject was an ex-husband who had been invited to see his daughter.
• Other law – Towler St.- In reference to a named subject talking out of his mind and letting a friend borrow a U-Haul and is worried it will not be returned on time. Civil remedies are advised.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Highway 78 EB / Highway 11 – Vehicle stopped for moving violation. The named subject was arrested for Felony VOP out of Effingham County. Transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
• Check of Area – South Broad St. & Walker Dr. – Complainant called stating that there was a smell in the area. The only smell in the area was the usual smell that is in the area of raw sewage smell.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Pavilion Pkwy – In reference to the complainant advising of a white male driving a white van full of juveniles. The complainant was concerned with possible sex trafficking. Negative contact was made.
• Suspicious Person – West Spring St. – The Complainant called stating that there were two suspicious Hispanic males on location. The complainant called back and stated that the subject left in a utility van and did not wish to meet.
• Suspicious person – Walmart. In reference to a white male wearing a UGA shirt walking around the parking lot with an IV in his arm after being discharged from Piedmont-Walton. The area was checked, and negative contact was made.
• Traffic Stop/ Pursuit – Stowers Street / Union Street – Attempted traffic stop on a Blue Ford Focus for no license plate. The vehicle fled the traffic stop leading to a vehicle pursuit before turning on a dead-end road and pulling over. The driver was arrested for fleeing and additional traffic violation and transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
• Civil issue – Bridgeport Pl. In reference to a female subject being kicked out of her sister’s residence for being intoxicated. Remedies advised.
• Business Alarm – Pavilion Parkway – Kitchen notion alarm at Ichiban Grill, all doors and windows appeared to be secure.
• Dispute – Chestnut Cupboard. In reference to complainant advising her daughter was involved in an altercation with another party on location. After further investigation, no fight occurred between the suspected party and the juvenile. Daughter was released to her mother on location. Remedies were advised.
• Traffic / Vehicle Impound – Hwy 138 Vehicle was stopped for suspended registration and no valid insurance. The driver was released on citations for no insurance, an expired tag, and a warning for suspended registration. He was also served on his license suspension.
