MPD Reports: Murder; violent assault; sexual assault; husband denies access to household amenities in order to save money

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 23 – 29 2026. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Assist Motorist – N Broad St / Discount Tire – Vehicle unlocked with no new damage.
• Motor Vehicle Crash – S Broad St. & S Broad St. – Two-vehicle crash between a truck hauling a trailer and a parked, unoccupied truck. No injuries. GEARS report.
• Assist Motorist – Kelton Rd – Vehicle unlocked, No Damage
• Traffic Light – Unisia Dr. & Hwy 78 – In reference to a report of the left-hand turn signal on Unisia Dr. northbound not functioning properly. The light was observed to be working normally.
• Sexual Assault – Baker St / Our Family Health – In reference to the mother suspecting her daughter might have been sexually assaulted.
• Traffic Stop / Arrest – E Spring St. & Valero – Vehicle stopped for an equipment violation. The passenger was found to have an active felony probation violation warrant out of Walton County. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail without issue.
• Civil Issue – Knight St – In reference to subject having questions about a civil issue.
• Domestic Dispute – Gatewood Way – In reference to the complainant stating that her husband is preventing access to the house’s amenities. The husband is trying to save money and has turned off access to certain amenities to do so. Remedies advised.
• Vehicle Unlock – S Madison Ave. – Vehicle unlocked without damage.
• Suspicious person – N Broad St; Citgo Monroe – Male subject on location breaking up pallets with a pick axe all okay.
• Assist Motorist – Georgia Ave / Walton County DFCS – Vehicle unlocked with no new damage
• Suicide Attempt – E Marable St. – In reference to a female subject cutting her thumb with a shaving razor. Turned over to EMS.
• Civil Issue – Alcovy St. – In reference to the complainant wishing to know if the business was legitimate. No action taken.
• Vehicle Unlock – W. Spring St- Vehicle unlocked, No damage
• Disabled Vehicle – E Spring St. – In reference to a broken down vehicle. The vehicle was moved out of the roadway – All okay.
• Vehicle Unlock – W. Spring St- Canceled, Complainant found spare key before arrival.
• Welfare Check – W.Spring St- Made contact with subject. Subject in enroute to Statham was waiting to catch a ride. All ok
• Traffic Stop – Hwy 138 / Entrance of Wal-Mart – Driver taken into custody on multiple narcotic charges.
• Vehicle Unlock – Unisia Dr- Vehicle unlocked No damage
• Private Property Crash – S Broad St; Walgreens- Two vehicle private property crash with no injuries. Report in GEARS.
• Vehicle Lockout – South Broad Street – Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Unisia Dr & Hwy 83 – In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain lane. Area checked and negative contact.
• Suspicious Vehicle – S Broad / Atha St – In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain lane. Area checked and negative contact.
• Other Law – Cook Pl – In reference to the complainant meeting a female he met online had been kidnapped in Jesup, GA. It turned out to be an online scam. Report taken.
• Found Property – S Broad St; Dollar General – Complainant located a debit card at the ATM of Synovus bank. I was unable to make contact with the owner after several attempts. The debit card was turned into evidence for safekeeping. Report completed.
• Vehicle Unlock – E. Spring St; Popeye’s – Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Discharge Firearms – Pine Park St / Lacy St – Complainant reported hearing 4 gunshots in the area. All units arrived and conducted an area check but no one was located.
• Public Intoxication – E Church St; Jack Peters Grocery – Complainant stated male came into the store intoxicated, placed beer on the counter, then told her he needed to get money out of his vehicle. Male then walked outside and tried to open the complainant’s vehicle. When confronted the male stated it was his vehicle and then left walking down E. Church Street. The male was located on Tall Oaks Drive and was placed under arrest. The male was 19 years old and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol by Consumption. He was released to Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Report completed.
• Theft – Tanglewood Dr – Complainant called for a theft report however the incident occurred in Conyers. She was advised to contact them to file a report.
• Alarm – Glen Iris Dr – Lyft panic alarm received, caller advised all was okay and did not need police assistance. The area was checked without contact with anyone in the area.
• EMS Assist – Pine Park St – In reference to a 24-year-old female having a medical episode. Turned over to Walton EMS.
• Unknown Law – Sorrells St – In reference to a possible dispute that occurred on location. The complaint left upon officer arrival and subject advised nothing had occurred.
• Courtesy Ride – W Spring St; Piedmont Walton – In reference to a female patient previously brought in by EMS, needing a ride home.
• 911 Hang-up – Magnolia Terrace – In reference to a verbal dispute between subject and complainant. The complainant, called 911 but hung up. Complainant was gone when officers arrived, but was located and alleged that subject shoved her. Due to conflicting stories, no charges were made. Remedies were advised to both parties and sent on their way.
• Lost Item – W. Spring St- Complainant wanted to make a report due to her phone being lost at Walmart on 1/23/26. Advised complainant to contact her carrier and report her phone lost/stolen Report taken
• Theft report – GW Carver -Complainant wanted to make a report regarding a female taking packages from her porch. The complainant’s daughter made a report last weekend regarding the same female taking packages. Report taken.
• Assist Motorist – Tall Oaks Dr – Vehicle unlocked with no new damage.
• Juvenile Runaway – S Hammond Dr & Cherokee Ave – In reference to a 13-year-old male running away. Juvenile was located, detained, and escorted back to his house. Remedies were advised to the complainant/mother.
• Suspicious vehicle – W Spring St – In reference to subject causing a disturbance on location. He was gone when officers arrived.
• Firearms – E Church ST – In reference to residents of the listed address firing at squirrels. Contact was made with the residents, and they were advised of city ordinances. Residents complied and put their weapons up.
• Theft Report – W Spring St.; McDonald’s – In reference to a cash drawer being $315.95 short at the end of subject’s shift. Subject consented to a search of her person and backpack and no money was located. Management was provided a case number and advised they would review CCTV and call back to follow up if needed.
• Threat Reports – W. Spring St- In reference to a customer getting angry at the door personnel when they checked her receipt, the customer had choice words with the complainant on her way out. Report taken.
• Warrant Service – Walker Dr – In reference to locating a named subject on location who had an active warrant out of WCSO for Probation Violation. She was taken into custody and turned over to Jail staff at the Walton County Detention Center without issue
• Civil Issue – E Spring St; Dollar General – Complainant called due to staff not allowing him to leave with items that he purchased due to their system being down and the money being withdrawn from his account. He was advised of civil remedies.
• Warrant Service – S Broad St; Southside – In reference to locating a named subject on location who had an active warrant out of Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office for Failure to appear. The subject was taken into custody and turned over to Jail staff at the Walton County Detention Center without issue
• Suspicious Vehicle – E Spring St / N Madison Ave – In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain lane. Area checked with negative contact.
• Suspicious Person – S. Broad St; Chevron – Complainant advised unruly customer refusing to leave. The female was gone when officers arrived. Area check completed but the female was not located.
• Welfare Check – N Broad St; Church’s Chicken – In reference to a male sitting on pallets in the cold. The subject was sitting by a fire and was okay.
• Traffic Crash – S Madison Ave / E Church St- Two vehicle crash with no injuries. Report in GEARS.
• Gunshot Wound – GW Carver Dr – In reference to two subject on location with gunshot wounds. One was dead on arrival at the hospital, and the other was transported to Piedmont Walton by EMS for treatment. CID was contacted and responded to the scene. Turned over to CID.
• Juvenile Problem – E Marable St: Juvenile female on location given a courtesy ride home due to her parents being stuck at work due to weather.
• 911 Hang Up – Mears St – Manor Homes – All okay on location.
• Dispute – Landers St – In reference to a male on the line stating “come get me”. Subject was gone when officers arrived, homeowner advised all was okay.
• Traffic Light – Hwy 138/Michael Etchison – In reference to traffic lights falling. Officers stood by until fixed by DOT.
• Alarm – Meadows Farm Drive – Homeowner on location, all okay. MVC – 6th St. – Two-vehicle crash with no injuries. GEARS report. Alarm – N. Broad- Clerk advised all was okay.
• Damaged property – Ridge Rd- Complainant wanted a report of tree limb falling on his truck in order to make a claim with insurance. Report taken
• Vehicle Unlock – S. Broad St – Unable to unlock vehicle. Owner was given a courtesy ride home and back to retrieve a spare key.
• Traffic Light – Hwy 78/Unisia- In reference to traffic lights falling. Officers stood by until fixed by DOT.
• 911 Hang Up – E Spring St – Static on the line. All Ok.
• Other Law – Glenwood Drive – In reference to a female requested a courtesy ride to the hospital.
• Traffic Control – N Broad St / Charlotte Rowell Blvd – In reference to traffic light being out.
• Traffic Control – Hwy 138 / Hwy 78 W exit ramp – Power out in the area.
• Follow Up – Nowell St – In reference to assisting CID in questioning a subject in reference to a previous incident.
• Damage to Property – Mayfield Dr – In reference to a subject stuck on a tree limb. He was provided with a State Self-Report of accident and assisted by Taylor’s Wrecker Service.
• Violent Domestic – E Church St – In reference to a named subject female subject reporting being Assaulted and strangled by by a named male subject earlier in the morning around 0100 Hours. She had severe bruising to her body and was transported to Piedmont Walton by Walton County EMS. The male subject was not on location and had taken her Blue Nissan Altima earlier in the day. Warrants taken for Family Violence Aggravated Assault by Strangulation and Family Violence battery.
