MPD Reports: Ongoing issue with homeless people sleeping on public property; stolen vehicle recovered

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 1 – 7 – , 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Assault – S Madison Ave; WCSO – In reference to an unknown female subject advising that she was assaulted on S Madison Ave. It was advised that she was in the lobby of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, however was gone when the officer arrived.
• Other Law – 1400 Hwy 78; Waffle House – In reference to vehicles illegally parked, options were advised.
• Dispute – Tall Oaks Ln – In reference to Subjects arguing over relationship problems, options were advised.
• Suspicious Person – W Spring St; Bank of America – In reference to subject walking in the area being loud. He advised that he was homeless and was listening to music and singing along. Subject had an active warrant out of New Jersey, however they would not extradite. He was sent on his way.
• Other Law – Glenwood Dr – In reference to an open trunk on a vehicle parked in the driveway. Owner advised it was left open accidentally. All ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – E Marable St; Mathews Park – In reference to homeless female on location. She was advised of park hours.
• Dispute – Tall Oaks Dr – Subject on location causing issues for the homeowner. Upon arrival, the second party was gone when officers arrived. All was determined ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Meadows Farm Dr – In reference to observing a vehicle in the driveway with the taillights on. Contact was made with the owner who was in the vehicle. All ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Wayne St Parking Lot – In reference to a yellow VW Beetle with the lights on. Vehicle was unoccupied. All appeared ok.
• Mental Person – Hickory Dr – In reference to Subject on location having a possible mental episode. EMS was notified and subject refused treatment. Subject was picked up from location by a relative.
• Alarm – Michael Circle – In reference to a residential alarm. Call canceled per dispatch.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 W at Unisia – In reference to a Lexus unable to maintain lane. Searched the area with negative contact.
• Alarm – Stonecreek Bend – Doors and windows secured. All okay on location per homeowner.
• Mental Patient – W Spring St.; Piedmont Walton – In reference to subject being combative under a 1013 order. He was restrained and medicated.
• Stolen Vehicle – Hwy 138 and Hwy 78 – In reference to a stolen vehicle out of Richmond County. Vehicle was stopped, driver was arrested for Poss. Sched II, Poss DRO, Theft by receiving, and giving false name and date of birth. He was transported to WC Jail without issue.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 138 – In reference to a Honda CR-V unable to maintain lane, heading towards Monroe. Negative contact.
• Vehicle Unlock – Ford St. – In reference to a Chevrolet Cruz. Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Damage to Property – Baker St. – In reference to complainant reporting that her stained glass porch light had been broken and that her door had been slightly damaged, possibly by neighboring juveniles. There was insufficient evidence to determine that the damage had been intentional or determine the alleged perpetrator. All involved parties were spoken with and agreed to remain civil.
• Alarm – Breedlove Ct – In reference to a residential alarm. Contact made with homeowners. All OK on location.
• Damage to property- E WASHINGTON ST – Reference to damage to property to a Chevy truck. Report taken case card given.
• Vehicle Unlock – MLK, Jr. Blvd; Mister Car Wash – In reference to a black GMC Acadia. Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Dispute – Amber Trl – In reference to an ongoing dispute, over a divorce, between two Subjects. Remedies advised and report taken.
• Accident – N Broad St and Pavillion Pkwy – 2 Vehicle accident with no injuries. GEARS.
• Suspicious Person – W Spring St. – In reference to a suspicious person, Subject was fine and had a meal. He is homeless taking a nap on the ground. All was ok.
• Dispute – E Marable St – In reference to a civil issue between the Complainant and her neighbor over chicken bones being thrown into her yard.
• Juvenile Complaint – GW Carver – Complainant called in reference to her neighbors’ kids and juveniles from Green St. playing with Orbeez Guns. Complainant did not see anything; report taken.
• Found Property – Pavilion Pkwy; San Andreas – In reference to a wallet belonging to a female being found on location. Contact was made with the owner who advised she would pick it up from MPD the next date. Report taken.
• Welfare Check – Carwood Dr – In reference to juvenile calling his father begging him to pick him up from his mother’s residence. Juvenile’s father requested to have a welfare check conducted at the mother’s residence. Juvenile explained he was unhappy living at the residence with his biological mother and advised he got in trouble for being on his phone when it was taken away. Advice given.
• Accident – HWY 11 at Charlotte Rowell Blvd – In reference to a MVA that occurred in the County. Turned over to WCSO.
• Suspicious Vehicle – N Broad St / E Spring St – In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain lane. Area checked, negative contact.
• Theft – E Church St; Chestnut Cupboard – In reference to a male subject wearing all black taking two soda drinks without paying. Area checked; negative contact made with anyone matching the description.
• Warrant Service – Springer Ln- In reference to the complainant stating a female subject was on location. She left before units arrived on scene. The area was checked and negative contact was made.
• Damage to Property – Pavilion Pkwy; Publix – In reference to the Complainant reporting damage to her 2020 Honda Accord. Report taken.
• Dispute – 900 Pavilion Pkwy; Publix – In reference to the Complainant, calling in reference to being denied services. While Officers were en route, it was advised that the complainant was GOA and requesting to cancel the call. Call was cleared.
• Suspicious Person – Woodland Rd – In reference to the Complainant who advised that two unknown male subjects knocked on his door and fled the area on foot. Area check was conducted, with negative contact.
• Vehicle Unlock – E Church St; Chestnut Cupboard – Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Disturbing the Peace – Edwards St – In reference to people on location arguing. Contact was made with the resident who advised that her grand kids were on location arguing but left prior to law enforcement arrival.
• Vehicle Unlock – Unisia Dr; Walmart DC – Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
