MPD Reports: Questions on corporal punishment rules for juveniles, traffic stops result in felony drug arrests

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 11 – 18, 2021. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Suspicious Person – W Spring St; Monroe Library. In ref to (3) subjects walking with book bags on W Spring St. After investigation, one was taken into custody for giving False name and D.O.B, Poss. of Sch II, and Poss. of Marijuana less than 1oz. He was transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office jail without incident. Warrants taken. 

Harassment – Nowell Street in reference to a subject contacting another after having a no contact order. A warrant was issued for violating a family violence order. 

Theft – South Broad Street (MPD): in reference to a 40 cal. hand gun missing from Deer Acres Inn believe to be in a room per. complainant. Report made. 

Warrant Attempt – C North Broad Street: In reference to a subject having a active warrant out of Walton County. Contact was made and he was arrested. Report made. 

North Broad Street/ Golden Pantry) Traffic Offense. Reference to a White Chevrolet Impala stopped for a non-visible tag. Probable Cause Search. One subject arrested for Possession of Marijuana (Felony) and another was arrested for Possession of Marijuana (Felony) and active arrest warrants out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office. 

Traffic Offense – N Broad St Valero. in reference to a subject being stopped for Window Tint. He was arrested for Possession with Intent to distribute Marijuana , Sch II and Possession of A fire Arm during the commission of a felony. 

Suspicious Person – Knight St In reference to a subject being on location laying on the ground at the entrance to the tailor park on Knight St. He was suffering from adverse effect from meth. Turned over to EMS 

Suspicious Person – Creek View Court. In reference to subject in the neighbors’ yard. Officer spoke with subject in her driveway, and she advised she is waiting for her ride to take her to her doctors’ appointment at 1000. Officer made contact with subject Sycamore Court and advised that family needs to start making progress on getting subject help, and possibly evaluated. 

Mental person – Creek View Court Subject claimed her neighbor put tree limbs in her driveway. All okay. 

Juvenile Complaint – Green Street Subject having question about corporal punishment. Juvenile proceedings were explained to subject. 

Theft – Gatewood Way Complainant stated that subject used her father’s debit card without his permission. 

Dispute – Walker Drive. Two subjects in a dispute on 3/12/2021. One stated the other came to her house today and knocked on her door. The Temporary Protection Order process was explained. 

Scam – Stone Creek Drive. In reference to the complainant receiving scam emails for her computer warranty in 2019 and 2020. Complainant also was told to send a $500 gift card to a “Fred” subject. Report requested.
