MPD Reports: Suicide threats; speeding driver arrested on warrant; vehicle drives into collection tubes in utility payment drive thru

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 8 – 14, 2024 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Suspicious Person – South Madison Ave – Contact made with suspect, was a paying customer. Complainant gone when officers arrived and did not wish to meet.
• Vehicle unlock – GW Carver – vehicle was unlocked.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Hwy 78 EB @ Aycock Ave – Named subject stopped for speeding. He was placed under arrest for a valid warrant for Assault out of Hall County. Turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office staff without incident.
• Alarm – Wellington Dr. – Accidental activation. All okay per homeowner on location.
• Area check – Oak St – Anonymous caller advising cars illegally parked blocking driveway. Contact made with the owners of the cars they were advised to move their vehicles.
• Area Check – Tanglewood Dr. – Anonymous caller advising of a neighbor possibly selling narcotics from a nearby residence. Negative contact with Complainant. No suspicious behavior observed in the area.
• Dispute – Ridge Rd – In reference to Complainant verbally disputing with her granddaughter about her children. Neither party agreed to leave voluntarily. Complainant advised of eviction process.
• Agency Assist – 6th St. – In reference to assisting Advantage Behavioral Health with a welfare check. There was no cause for a 1013 order. Patient denied being checked out by EMS or voluntary mental health assessment, insisting he was fine.
• 911 Hang up – Mayfield Dr. – All okay.
• Damage to Property – N. Broad St; Monroe City Hall – In reference to a report of a vehicle striking the tube collection machine in the drive through of the Monroe Utilities bill payment area. Report taken.
• 911 Hang Up – Davis St. – In reference to the 911 hang up, the resident’s granddaughter had the phone and accidentally called 911. All Ok.
• Fire Assist – W Spring St. – In reference to smoke in the building. Turned over to Monroe Fire Department.
• Suicidal Threats – Tanglewood Ln. – In reference to Subject expressing thoughts of suicide, Complainant requested officer assistance. Subject voluntarily wanted to go to Advantage Athens. Subject was transported by MPD to Advantage Athens.
• Suicide Threat – Cook Pl. – In reference to a sister of Subject stating he called saying he was going to disappear for a while. Negative Contact with Subject at the listed address. Contact made with Subject off of Sorrells St. He advised he did not wish to harm himself and returned home.
• Vehicle Lockout – Mathis Street – Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Disabled Vehicle – N Broad St. @ Bold Springs Ave. – In reference to a Dodge Ram broken down in the roadway. Vehicle was able to be pushed out of the roadway into a nearby parking lot.
• Animal Complaint – Piedmont Walton – In reference to dogs in a vehicle that’s not running.
• Vehicle Unlock – Highland Ter – vehicle was unlocked.
• Counterfeit – Plaza Dr; Apt – In reference to Complainant receiving a fake (Motion Picture Purposes) $20 bill from John’s supermarket when he cashed his check. Report taken.
• Follow Up – S Madison Ave; WCSO Jail – In reference to serving an arrest warrant on a named male subject. Warrant served.
• Suspicious Person – N Broad St; Frank’s Valero – In reference to Subject on location and being extremely intoxicated. Subject’s neighbor was able to give him a ride home.
• Accident – N Lumpkin St; High Voltage Wings. Two vehicles, no injuries. Report in GEARS.
• Other Law – Sorrells St – In reference to Complainant complaining of paying bills and not being left alone by roommates. Complainant was advised of remedies.
• Firearms – Cook Pl at Cook St – In reference to Complainant advising of (1) gunshot heard in the area. Area was checked by Officers, negative contact.
• Suspicious Vehicle – N Midland Ave – In reference to an open door on a vehicle in the parking lot. Negative contact with the registered owner. Vehicle was secured.
• Disabled Vehicle – W Spring / Pinecrest Dr – In reference to the complainant having a blown tire. Taylor’s contacted and responded to change the tire.
• Disturbing the Peace – E Washington- In reference to Complainant stating seven people were being loud by the mailbox. Only two females were observed in the area, and they advised they just got there.
• Disturbing the Peace – E Washington St- In reference to the anon complainant on call above stating that the females that contact was made with on location were being untruthful.
• Civil Dispute – E Spring St; Valero. In reference to a dispute between an employee and a named subject over payment of items. After investigation, the subject paid for the items and was issued a notice of prohibited entry for two years and was sent on his way.
• Alarm – US Renal Care: Employees set off alarm arriving to open clinic. All OK.
• Accident – 620 Hwy 138 – Two vehicle accident. No injuries. Gears report completed.
• Alarm – South Broad St. – All of the gates were secured and the owner said everything looked okay on camera.
• Vehicle unlock – Martin Luther King Blvd – The call was canceled.
• Vehicle unlock – West spring St. – Vehicle unlocked no damage.
• 911 Hang-up – Southview Dr. – Static on line, busy tone on callback. No one appeared to be at residence. All appeared okay.
